Please Help
Hi all
I have just joined the site and from what ive read you all support each other alot. Im really struggling to lose weight at the moment and keep putting it on instead. I need to lose 2.5 stone in three months or the NHS will not pay for my only free go of ivf. They gave me the impression they wouldnt pay for it but now are say they might. I feel under imense pressure but also keep saying to myself, why cant i lose it if I want a baby so much. Anyway, if anyone can help or make any suggestions then im all ears. I have just started to walk alot to try and see if that helps but still i put on. I see food (bad food) and i want it. But i hate the way i look. I was 18 and half stone 4 years ago, last year i got down to 12.10 and now im back up to 15st 8, which is just ridiculous. Help Debs |

I can't blame you for feeling frustrated. Afterall, why do we have to give up eating all the yummy food??? Well, that's just the tough part of it all. However, you need to forget all about the external reasons for losing weight. You need to decide that you want this for yourself. Then, you need to make the changes that will get you there. You took the first huge step, by starting to exercise. That is great, so don't be so hard on yourself. When you think poorly of yourself, you won't want to do things for yourself, such as eat healthfully. Now, you need to cut back on your eating. Without cutting back on the eating, it's very unlikely that you will lose weight. It's a horrible fact that we all have to deal with...especially for those of us (such as myself) who are emotional eaters. I think it's important for you to find a plan that you can stick with long term. You might try calorie counters, weight watchers, southbeach, etc. There are boards on this forum for the various diets, so read through them and see what appeals to you the most. I also suggest you lift weights to boost your metabolism. That way, you'll be burning calories while at rest....which is a great way to lose weight. I check this board several times a day because it reminds me to stay on track. If we're not consistent, then it just doesn't work. Sure, you'll have some slip ups, but for the most part, you gotta stay on track and pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back on that horse to thinland! ;) I wish you a wonderful journey to your goal. Heya debs, it is really difficult to lose weight and when you have other obstacles in life it can be awful! I think if you can't say no to bad food, don't buy. IF it isn't in the house to tempt you, you cant eat it.
Also, when you are tempted, remind yourself why you're doing this. Every thing you put in your mouth is a conscious decision and you CAN say no, and it will make you feel good! Remember about 500 calories less per day is what it usually takes to lose weight. Best of luck finding your path! |

Welcome and good luck ! I agree that you need to find a plan that works for you. Experiment until you find it. Many of us count calories.,others do well with Weight Watchers , South Beach is popular, too. The important thing is to eat fewer calories and exercise, you will lose weight.
