So here I am:)

  • Hello to all of the rest of you out there trying to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. I, like many of you, have struggled with my weight for what seems like forever. Growing up I was the overweight book worm in a tiny midwestern town.......it was awful!!! I am considerably healthier as an adult, but still find myself overweight. My highest weight of my life was when I was pregnant with my first son, 270 lbs. I have yo-yoed up and down over the last 10 years since I had him, and currently weigh 210 pounds (weighed myself this morning). Today I joined WeightWatchers online to see how well I do with it. We all have vices, mine are chocolate and carbs. Maybe if I keep track of exactly what I'm eating, I'll see whats going on lol. I work out regularly and strenuously, so that's not an issue. My goal is to weigh 160 pounds, just over the maximum for my height of 5'8". I came across this website and thought it would give me some inspiration to chat and post with other ppl having similar issues with weight. So feel free to send me a message, I'm happy to talk with anyone at all!!! Good luck to all of you here, and to myself as well
  • Hi and welcome!! I just joined here a few days ago, and love it already. Everyone is real friendly and helpful. I joined on Monday, and feel better already. I don't know if I've lost anything yet, but I definitely feel like I have a support team here. Good luck to you!!!
  • Thank you for the kind words!!
  • Welcome, Earthgrl!!
Are you still a bookworm? Me, too. I've started listening to audio books on my ipod while I exercise. (nothing beats the printed word, however...) I don't always feel like listening to music, and the time goes quickly. Sort of.
    Best wishes to you!
  • I do the ipod thing too -- I have many many murder mysteries on it. I find that music, though, makes me walk faster.

I still love actual reading better -- make that loooove, though it's hard to find the time, during the school year. And books and chocolate together -- heaven!

  • Welcome!
I just joined recently as well, and I am on maintenance with WW (after having lost my weight).
Two thoughts for you..... you say 160 is higher than the recommended weight for your height, but I think you may be low according to WW standards. I am 5'5" and my highest goal weight they gave me was 150.
If you find it hard to do WW online, the meetings really work. I have been going since last June and it really helps to keep me motivated and accountable. Good luck!
    Michele (also a lifelong bookworm!)

Oh yes, most definately still a big bookworm. I always have a book with me.....you never now when your going to have to wait, especially in this town. I've never tried audio books, I prefer to actually read. And when I exercise my ipod is full of fast paced rock/punk/psychobilly music.
