Hello I'm A Newbie

Hello to everyone. Im very excited to be here. I guess I should tell you something about myself. It seems Ive been off and on diets most of my life. When I was a teenager and in my twenties I used to think I was fat and was forever trying new diets to be thinner. Now when I look back I see how delusional I was. I was 108lbs and I would love to look like that now. Its funny how I used to hate wearing shorts or a bathing suit thinking my fat would show. If I looked like that now I think I would walk around naked..lol
Unfortunately a bad marriage, some health problems and a lot of anxiety drove me to turn to the only source of comfort I thought I had. So I ate myself to 270lbs. The end of my marriage was a wonderful turning point for me. I managed to deal with some issues and with the help of protein shakes and the atkins plan I lost 110lbs. I also met my wonderful fiance and we are planning our wedding. In the last year I have gained 20lbs and am now up to 170lbs. Its hard because we are very social and so the eating out and the drinking has caught up with me. Also Im terrible about exercise, I've never enjoyed it. I would rather be snuggled up on the couch with him than going to the gym. I really need some incentive to follow a healthy plan of eating and exercise. Not only do I want to look beautiful on my wedding day but I would like to be a healthy weight.

Hi piper, I've been doing atkins too, I lost about 17 lbs in 12 weeks. I have t admit I did not follow it that well after the first 6 weeks. I just want to suggest to you that there are ways to eat out that are very healthy, like getting veggies instead of potatoes, even doubling the veggies if you get 2 sides or going for salads to at least help you fill up on something healthy. I'm pretty social as well. One thing I've been doing is having friends over so I can cook. Even something hearty like ziti can be really good if you just substitute regular pasta for dreamfields. It's a great way to be around friends and not have to worry about what you are eating.

Congrats on your substantial weightloss!! If you took off that much before, I'm sure you can beat a smaller amount the second time around. Welcome.

Welcome, Marie! :welcome3:
I can relate to a lot of what you said. If it's any motivation, don't let the pounds creep up until you're in the 200s! My DH and I LOVE to be cozy at home together, and it's so difficult to movitate ourselves to get to the gym. Get fit together now, and you'll enjoy life so much more.

You can eat out and still make good choices. Avoid fried foods, sauces and gravies, and desserts as they are usually loaded with sugar.
