new here but already hooked

I'm so happy to have found this site. I will be taking a while to lose all of this weight and I really need support. The last time I lost a lot of weight I did it at ww but I never made it to goal and I had to quit after losing 63 pounds. Now I've gained that all back and have to start over at more than 100 pounds to lose. I can't afford to pay for a program this time around so I've decided to DO IT MY WAY...but I will still need some cheerleaders and a few friendly crutches. I'm pretty sure I'll get them here. Thanks again for being here. I'll get to know you all better real soon. Jackie

WELCOME! You will love it here. It is a great place to hang out :)
I love calorie counting. It is free, and it works. Check out some of the calorie counting threads - there is a wealth of info and support over there.

Come back often - we LOVE new chicks :)

Yes I am counting calories. I'm also going to be using my exercise bike until the weather gets better and I can walk. I am really proud of you and the weight you've lost so far. What an inspiration you are! Thanks again for the welcome. I will check out the calorie counting thread. Jackie

Hey Tinygrammy, and :wel3fc:

Yes, do head over to the calorie counters area...tons of great information to be had there! You may also want to visit the 100 lb club forum...a wonderful, supportive group of women who have lost or are on their way to losing 100 lbs.

Stick around and keep posting, wherever you decide to post. Can't wait to get to know you better!

I am a calorie counter, too. I have done other programs and spent a lot of money, then one day , it dawned on me, calorie counting is effective and free!

Thanks everyone

I made my decision today to definitely use calorie counting, but I also want to try to watch my portion sizes, cut down on my starches, increase my vegies and fruits and pretty much to just eat cleaner. Does anyone think that this sounds like too much to take on at once? Do you think I'll lose weight doing those things? BTW, I'm starting out at around 1600 calories. Thanks so much for the great support already. I'm heading over to the calorie counters! Jackie

Jackie, you can always slow down a bit if you're feeling overwhelmed with all the new changes. Some people do best "cold turkey" while others need to take baby steps.
It's possible you may even need to eat a few more calories if you find you're losing too quickly. (I know what you're thinking. ) When I was seeing a dietitian a few years ago, I was losing a steady 2 pounds a week eating between 1700 and 2000 calories a day. I was about 210 pounds at the time.
