Newbie in KY - Intro
Hi All,
I have always been a little bit chunky but over the past 1 1/2yrs (when my boyfriend moved in) I gained 25lbs. Two weeks before Christmas he dumped me, moved out, and I went on "the breakup diet". You know, the one where you have no desire to eat and when you try you just end up getting sick anyways! I lost my first 10lbs in two weeks that way. Not healthy I know, but that's what happened. Needless to say, I took the breakup really badly and am now on anti-depressants. To try and get my life back together again I decided I would stop talking about dieting and going to the gym and actually DO it. Not to mention it would do something productive with some of the tons of free time I suddenly found myself with! On New Year's Eve I joined the gym and went for the first time on New Year's Day. I was/am in horrible shape. Had never stepped foot in a gym before and had never ever exercised. I started out going 3x a week and mostly just doing cardio. I'm now doing 5-6 days a week cardio, and 3 days a week weightlifting. As far as dieting, it's really hard for me to eat clean because I hate pretty much all veggies no matter how they are prepared. I'll eat potatoes and corn, that's it. When I say hate, I mean I literally throw up after the first bite. I can't even force myself to eat them :( I also don't like many fruits. I'll eat apples and bananas and that's it. On top of that, I'm a smoker. I'm probably one of the most unhealthy people you'll ever encounter, lol! I want to quit smoking and asked my doctor about Chantix but he actually told me to NOT try to quit smoking for at least a month when my stress levels are down more. So that's my story! I look forward to meeting everyone here. I've been reading posts for a few weeks and everyone seems very nice :) |

Welcome!
You should head over to our "Veggie Challenged" forum! The reason so many of us eat tons of veggies (non-starchy ones...corn and potatoes won't save you many calories) is so we can get full plates and lots of food for fewer calories. If you really can't find any way you enjoy veggies, your portions are just going to have to be smaller because you can't use veggies to bulk them out. It is still do-able. You might want to take a multi-vitamin, though, just to be on the safe side, nutritionally. Anyway, head on over to the Veggie Challenged thread and keep posting. Can't wait to get to know you better! |
