Default Is this where I start? (My story too)

Hi I'm Shannon. I'm 34, and currently work per deim at my job. All that means is I'm a casual employee due to my schedule. But other than that I'm usually a SAHM

Well wow where to start. I've got 2 boys. My oldest is 9. After I had him I just had postpardum weight to loss with him and somehow managed to keep eatting as though I was still pregnant. Then that turned into 90 extra pounds. I weighed 195-200 before I got pregnant. (I'm 6' 3") so that was skinny for me for my body type. That extra 90 pounds I gained bulked me up to the 280's and 295 mark.

It wasn't until 05 into 06 that I kinda started a version of the atkins diet and just changed to diet soda and watched my carbs that I dropped 50lbs like nothing. And to my husband and my suprise once I lost that little bit of weight, we wound up pregnant with our second son. The extra weight I believe contributed to our struggle with concieving him. That's why I have almost a 7 year age difference between my kids.

So now it's 08 I'm back into the 280's and miserable. I lost this weight once before I know I can do it again. I just like to eat. That's my whole problem.

I'd love to be 220 or even 200lbs that'd be wonderful for me considering my height.

I'm wondering is this a forum that you guys have different diet plans or are you all pretty much doing the same thing.

I'm on the Hilton Head Metabolism diet and so far this being only the 4th day love it. It's hard don't get me wrong, but aren't most diets I've lost 5lbs in 3 days so to me it's like 10 and I just plan on continuing on. My parents are doing the same diet with amazing success. So far they've lost about 45lbs each so I know this will work for me to if I stick to it.

I hope to finally have found a weight loss group for me that I can vent to and get that extra willpower when I think I need to eat.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to meeting you all.

Mom2GarretandRyan,

to the forums! It's great to have you

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! I've never heard of your diet, but it sounds like you're committed to it.

The Chicks here are on many differant diets, and some are just calorie counting, etc. There are specific diet forums, but there are also lots of general forums where people from all diets chat.
Feel free to jump in wherever you feel like it - Chicks in Control is great for support with overeating, Weight Loss Support is where you can go to complain about anything (or not) , and General Chatter is great for forgetting about diet related concerns for a while.

Please keep posting, and let us know how you're doing!

You'll find plenty of support here. Check in when you're having a craving or feeling low, and you'll find some inspiration and encouragement.

Hey Mom, and

I haven't heard of that particular plan, but googled it when you mentioned it. It seems like a low-fat calorie counting plan, basically, where you eat 5 times a day, right? I'm a little concerned that the source I saw said it had a maximum calorie level of 1000 per day during weight loss...that would barely be enough for a small, 110 lb woman during weight loss! Standard advice is to eat at LEAST 1200 calories a day, and that low only toward the very end of weight loss when you're close to goal and need the extra push to get there.

Look around, post wherever, and keep on going...can't wait to hear more from you soon!

Yeah on the low cal for 2 weeks you take in 800 calories a day. And you do that for 2 weeks. On the booster week you take in 1100 calories a day. Then you go back to low cal for 2 weeks and then the booster week. It's a really good plan, 3 days into it is the hardest. But I definitely think my stomache has shrank, and I'm not shakey at all.

The way my mom and her nutritionist put it is, it seems to keep you from plateauing (sp?)

Have you brought the plan to your physician? Generally, 800 calories or around there should only be done under a doctor's supervision (it is considered a "Very Low Calorie Diet" by the medical definition) and carries some not-so-great effects with it. So you may want to talk to your doctor, bring him your food plans or diaries for a few days worth of eating that low, and make sure he approves of taking your calories to the "Very Low" level.

I did, that was my biggest concern. I was like, can you live on that and he looked it over and thought it was pretty good.

*phew* I have to admit I was also concerned when you mentioned your calories per day, but am happy to see you've gone & talked to your doctor about it beforehand! & I wish you the best of success!

Oh shoot, I forgot to add. That once I reach my goal weight there is a re-entry level in the book I'm using. And that bases daily intake of calories at about 1500-1700 a day.

The low cal and the booster weeks that I'm doing are just to be my metabolism back and working properly since I've done nothing but basically eat for all this time and eat big portions.
