Here's hoping this helps!

Hi everyone! I'm happy to have found a forum where I can talk about my struggles and attemps at weight loss. Yes, I have tried this before. Here's hoping with the new year around the corner I can break some bad habits and get in better shape.

I'm 5'2" and currently weigh my all-time high of 220 pounds. I'm 25; I think my lowest adult weight was about 175, but I've put on some more, obviously, since moving in with my boyfriend. We've managed to break out of the rut of eating out too often, which caused a lot of weight to pile on, but I really need to get myself to the gym! I'm excited that there's a new location of my gym opening up right near the school where I work.

I'm not entirely sure how much weight I want to lose as I've never really been thin. I'm shooting for a weight goal of around 135-140 or so, but I'll see how things go.

Sorry if I'm going on and on. So excited to have found this site!

Welcome and good luck! Do you have a diet and exercise plan ?

My plan for now is to just try to get to the gym 3-4 times per week, since I haven't been going at all, and to stop eating sweets, which should be easier since the holidays are over! I don't eat all that badly for the most part, I just need to move around more and avoid cookies!

Hi librarianbeck,

I could relate to it when you wrote

I set my own goal weight kind arbitrarily based on a combination of those notoriously unrealistic height/weight charts, some math on how much weight I have to lose in order to go down a size, and some symbolic symmetry with my highest weight. At this point I don't know how much my goal weight really means to me. I expect to revise it as I approach it depending on my health, BMI and size. I might be looking forward to revising it even more than I am looking forward to meeting it. It's going to be exciting to find out how I feel and what I look like as I approach a healthy weight for the first time in my adult life.

Good luck and welcome!
