New here- Hello!

I started out the middle of the summer at 177. I am only 5feet tall so...that's not good. I had thought I was having a heart attack one night and went to the hospital around the end of May I think, but nothing. I swithced doctors about a month later and when she sent for my records, she called to tell me that my thyroid hormone was low, but not only that but my thyroid STIMULATING hormone was 3 times higher than it should be which meant that it was in overdrive and still wasn't getting me to a normal thyroid level. She put me on synthroid and I lost 11 pounds in about 6 weeks. She'd also given me an appetite suppressant but said she would only do so for a couple of months , just to get me started to help lose the weight my thyroid had caused me to gain. The rest would be on my own. I know that's cheating to a lot of people, but I really ended up not taking them anyway because I didn't want to waste them. By waste I mean that I wasn't really trying to lose weight or exercise becasue I was in school and stree and any other excuse. Anyway, I started trying to lose weight in earnest about 6 weeks ago and I think I was about 167-169. Now I am at 152. I really want to do it this time. I won't go into details but let's just say, I have the kind of motivation now that makes me feel like I HAVE ot do this now. For a lot of reasons but anyway...
I got an elliptical and Ihave been exercising on it 6 days a week for 30 mins. I'm doing a WW points plan-the original. I lost 65 pounds that way in 2002 and kept it off for almost two years, then we had a series of crises and I had gained all but the last 15 or so of it back until toward the end of last year. I guess that was when my thryoid started acting up.
Well, that's my story. This past week has been crazy cause I hadn't exercised but twice. And I "broke down " on my points 2 days. I am glad to have found this site, hopefully when Iam feeling weak, now I can come here for motivation. and support! I am excited about the prospect of not cringing when I cross paths with a morror.
I have a 7 YO daughter who has tld me before that I was fat. The other day, she said"Mommy, I can BARELY see you're fat now." That was pretty good. Coming from an absolutely honest mouth.

Welcome and good luck, That 7 year old daughter is a perfect reason for you to get your weight under control. She deserves a healthy Mommy. You can do it!

:welcome:

Good for you to being committed to weight loss! :cheer2: Pills aren't the best way, of course, but if you are being supervised by your doctor, it's a different matter. That's not exactly "cheating" in my book, anyway.

Hope your thyroid gets settled down, and I wish you success!

Jay
