Hi - from the Pacific NW

  • I'm new here, but very happy to have stumbled across what seems to be a great community. I have plans to begin a massive life change (weight loss, diet reformation) and I think, for the first time ever, that I should probably look for some support!

I hope I can be supportive to some of you as well!

Well, I'm going to read a few more postings to get myself acquainted with the site.

Best of luck, everyone, & Happy Holidays!

P.S. I'm not an avid poster, so please forgive me if my posts are sloppy or wrong(?) Thanks!
  • Hi Lanvin! The title actually caught my eye since I'm from the beautiful PNW also! I live near Seattle. And then your ticker caught my eye! It looks like we weigh the exact same amount and have the same goal. This is a great site...you should feel real lucky that you stumbled upon it!

P.S. The 100 lb Club support group is great.
  • Hi MomTo2SweetPeas & thanks for the welcome

I'm from Seattle too! It's pretty tough being plus-size in this uber-fit city, isn't? It's good to know there are a few friendly faces out there

BTW, I just posted my bio in the 100 lb Club, but since that file is so large, I'll re-post it here - in case anyone is interested

    First name: Lanvin

    Geographical location: Pacific NW

    Age: 36

    Marital Status: married

    Children/Ages: 1/15

    Occupation: student

    Pets: 2

Hobbies/Interests: opera, theater, cooking, baking, gardening, reading, spending time in the outdoors

    Height: 5'4"

    Eye/Hair Color: brown/brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: 274

    Starting Weight: 274

    Present Weight: 274

Goal Weight: 170, then I'll reassess

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Doing it despite perceived or actual opposition from my husband AND despite how happy it will make my family

Following any specific plan: Currently, I'm taking a one-day-at-a-time approach. I might find I'll need something more rigorous later & then I'll look into my options

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: My schedule is finally clearing up a bit such that I have some time to exercise. Plus, this is the year I've been waiting for my life to change, so now that it is here, it's up to me to change it. Also, I have a 20-year class reunion coming up for which I'd like to look a bit more like my old classmates expect. I know it's vain, but... so am I

Anything else you would like to share with us: I think part of the reason I'm fat is because I don't rely on other people much. This is me trying to break that pattern. So, if I'm a bit stand-offish, please feel free to remind me of my goals to open up & have patience with me. I'm learning.
