Hello from a 40-something mom in the Twin Cities!
 

I'm crazy for starting a life change in December, but I'm really motivated so I'm working with it.

Tonight is my first Christmas party, at which I plan on arriving 75 minutes late (after appetizers and dinner). I'm on the Slim4Life plan, and I just started, but I survived the sugar detox, I've lost 5 lbs and I love not living in a carbo fog. My clarity of mind is a surprise and a pleasure. I hope it gets better and better. I don't wander around in a stupor for 45 minutes after waking up in the morning. I just hope I can keep remembering this feeling when all those Christmas goodies keep screaming my name.

Besides all that, I'm a mom to 5 (DD & DSIL - 23 & 24), and 3 DS (21, 18 and 15) and DH and I are celebrating 25 years and our first cruise in February. I'm also a scrapbooking instructor and administrative assistant.

You are so NOT crazy for starting a life change in December. In my opinion, if you can make it through December without weight gain, you get a couple of benefits. One, you'll have had a "trial by fire", so to speak - if you can resist the December temptation gauntlet, think how much easier January will be! Two, you'll be starting at a lower weight...I think the average person gains over 5 lbs during the holiday season.

So :bravo: to you for making the decision to start now, even if it will be a little tougher at the beginning. I have no doubt that you'll be glad you made the decision once the rough month is over!
