new to the site
not so new to weight loss attempts. :p
but i found this site on accident. go me. :D and i was really inspired. go all of you. :D i am so curious as to how everyone knows what works for her or him. --since this site covers everything. oh! my name is flo. i'm 26 and i'm currently living in WA state though i plan to move to ID soon. i'm a mother of 2--my daughter is 5 and my son is 3 months. k, that about covers the basics. :) |
Hey Flo & :welcome: It's important to make a decision to commit to this new lifestyle :) Have you thought about what might work for you? Tracking any food so far? Planning any exercise?
I'm a Weight Watchers member, and have found that watching my points and making sure to do the best that I can with their Good Health Guidelines (adding more fruits & vegetables, whole grain pastas & rices, low fat dairy, getting in 6 glasses of water a day etc.) has helped me become healthier than I think I've ever been in my entire life. Of course, I've had to exercise, too! Not that I enjoyed it much at first :p But, I started out slowly, just two 10 minute walks a day during my work breaks, and it built up over many months to two 10 minute walks a day + a 30 minute walk on the treadmill after work. My suggestion is this, if you have a plan in mind you're interested in learning about there are groups for all kinds. Just ask! Many of the members will be more than willing to explain. If you're just looking to see what you're eating at the moment a good idea is to track your calories for a few days. See what's going in ^^ You'll find a plan that works for you, and modify it so that it fits into your life. Best of luck!!! |
New to site
I'm also new to the site. Odd how one finds things. Could not sleep. Greer Childers was on TV. Looked up her new product on the web. Found this site. Thought, hmmm...why not? So here I am.
Started out at about 275 pounds. When I started having serious blood glucose problems I went on Byetta and as much exercise as I could work in. :carrot: I started out using a highly specialized diabetics diet by Bernstein. Lost about 50 pounds walking, weight-lifting and using rigid dietary control. I lost my way about a year ago when I was ramping up for the bar (the legal one, not the arm bending one). Right now I'm assessing work arounds to deal with my physical problems (exercise exacerbated asthma and pain issues) and determining how best to accommodate my dietary needs. |
:welcome: to you, too, Foghamar! Congrats on the weight loss so far - simply fantastic! You CAN do this ^^

Hey There!
I too found the site by searching whilst at work on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. I work -3- 12 hour shifts (one of them overnight!)
I have been lurking at the posts and reading about the different diets. I feel motivated to actually get my bum off the couch and start working out again. I keep saying NO MORE EXCUSES! Just wanted to say HI! |
thanks for your replies everyone. :)
uhh...as for what i intend do.. money is an issue right now. and so i can't join any fancy clubs / have my food mailed to me or whatnot and shoot, even shopping healthy at the grocery store is expensive. so i'm utilizing my costco membership to stock up on weightloss shakes for now. time is not an issue. i'm a stay at home mom and i'm right now living w/ my sister and her family which keeps me fairly busy b/c my sister has health problems so i'm often helping out w/ her five children (ages 11-19). weather is an issue. it snowed today. it's not supposed to snow here (it does maybe 3-4 times during the winter.) i abhor snow and cold weather. especially after having been living in hawaii this time last year. :p i love walking. but not in cold weather. i was doing crunches and stretches one night in front of my sister. she was so critical of how i was doing them that i have not done them since. i know it wasn't her intention to hurt my feelings--and i still feel really stupid that it did. i seem to be stuck on a "when this happens....then i can/will...." attitude instead of "just do it now and be done w/ it" one. this time around i've been telling myself there are no (healthy) get-thin-quick solutions and i'm reminding myself often that it will probably take me around 2 years to reach my goal. ultimately i would like to overhaul my lifestyle -- i think cutting out processed foods and salt and drinking water like it's going to be all gone tomorrow are great ways to be healthy. thanks again you guys. good luck to all of us. :) |
Yuk, when it is cold and nasty out that's about the worst time to get motivated and get out to do something. I wanted to go for a walk today and the wind was just bitter. My dear husband is not icy wind intolerant. Maybe tomorrow it will no be so bloomin bitter winded outside. We need to walk and walk and walk.
