Default New and flabby

Hi All

Just introducing myself. My name is Jenny and I am officially flabby and greedy!
2 years ago I went from 16.5 stone to 12.5 stone on WW in about a year ... now all the bad habits have come back and I'm about 15 stone, wearing size 20 trousers and 22 tops

The good bit is I have the exercise habit now, I go at least 3 times a week and lift weights then do Body Combat, going to try and up that to 4 times a week and get myself a pedometer, aiming for 10-15,000 steps per day.

I am rejoining WW on Tuesday, and I'm SCARED!!!!! I hate feeling hungry, I love to comfort eat, not sure how I'm going to survive on 22/23 points. ULP!!!!

But - right now my choice of clothes is dictated by what hides the flab the best. I hate it. I want to CHOOSE what I wear. For me, loosing weight is all about the clothes!!! Prob sounds a little shallow but hey what can I say? I'm a girl

So - just wanted to say hi all, been going through a few posts, this looks like a great site. Looking forward to posting my weight losses and to giving out some help where I can.

JenJam ^^ I'm on WW, too, and I've never gone hungry.

First things first - the key is changing your mentality. You are not on a diet. You are changing your eating habits. FOREVER! I cannot stress this enough. There is no "quitting" once you get down to a healthy weight. (Or then we just go back to the way we used to be and the size to match ; ; )

Now, you're doing EXCELLENT at the exercising bit, so all I can say is keep that up!!!!

So, more specifically about feeling hungry & using the points. This is all about learning how to eat proper serving portions AND -what- foods you choose to eat.

For example: Sure you could have one slice of pizza for 9 points and that's all good and dandy every once & again, BUT why not have a piece of grilled chicken (serving = 3), a salad with vinegar (serving =0), a cup of mixed steamed veggies with a tablespoon of parmesean (serving = 1), and a side cup of penne with half cup of red sauce (serving = 5) instead for 9 points? All that extra food! Load everything up with vegetables, and use fruits as snacks! So few points, and so much more filling! Don't forget your water either. Sometimes we think we're hungry, but we're really just thirsty.

And do not forget that there are 35 weekly points extra in case you do need to go a few points over your daily amount. It's OKAY!!!

It will take a few weeks to really get into it, but stick with it and you WILL have success -

We're all here for you if you need the support. Hungry & really just bored? Jump on and chat a bit It'll help reaffirm what you're reaching for.

Best of luck to you! Let us know how it's going ^^

Welcome JenJam!! I'm a newbie and a UK newbie at that... I totally know where you're coming from - fashion ranges for "bigger" people in the UK generally sucks noodles and it's not nice only having a limited amount of fun & funky things you can wear.

You've made an excellent start with your exercise already... you'll find yourself missing it if you skip doing it, I can promise you that! [This is coming from an exercise phobic so it must be true!]

And don't be scared about rejoining WW... it's one of the better "diets" around to be honest... you get to eat real food and you can add in your favourite treats into the plan - hardly a diet really!! You've got caught into thinking about all the things you'd be limited to eating as opposed to seeing just how much good stuff you *can* eat for 22/23 points a day... just have a look through the recipe books and on the WW boards here and I'm sure some of the girls [and guys maybe] can point you in the right direction of yummy, low-point food.

Stick at it... we're all in the same boat here hon... we're all going to have bad days, worries and generally have a tough time at this weightloss malarky, so post lots and keep it up!! I know you'll do great!!!

*hugs*

Hi Welcome!!

I absolutely sympathize with the clothing situation. I was in a shop looking for jeans. I couldn’t find any big enough and when I finally did I asked the sales person if they had that size in other styles. She said no only what you find on these two racks, and she pointed to the sign that I missed which said ‘Large sizes’. I had two styles to choose from neither of which I liked but I had no other choice. That was a sobering day for me; I hadn’t realized how big I was.

Anyway, I don’t want to hijack your thread! Welcome! I am sure you can do it!

thank you all for the replies ... today I got my hubby to take my fat pictures ... urgh they are AWFUL! But I intend to print these out and use them as motivation, especially at work where I really struggle to stay away from the snacks!

I'm feeling more confident now, think it's a case of planning meals properly, and I like the idea of focussing on what I CAN have, not on what I can't.

Cheers all and I'll be posting my official weight after my first WI on Tuesday!
