Unhappy this will be my last diet!

I have been severely depressed for 4 years. As a result I've gained about 80 pounds. I have been saying for 4 years that I will start my new diet tomorrow. I'm fed up with being overweight. I'm tired of wearing clothes that I don't even like. I'm tired of being addicted to pizza. I'm sick of feeling like this is just temporary and that it will all go away eventually. I'm tired of being the 'fat' friend. I have to do something about it. I can't keep going in this direction. This seems like a supportive community for weight loss. I'm glad I stumbled upon it.

Welcome to an amazing place!!

Okay, the one thing I have learned the most here is ----

it's not a "diet", it's a lifestyle. Diet signifies a beginning and an end, as in "I went on a diet and lost 50 lbs". Diet, to me, sounds like I'm going to do this until I get where I want and then the old habits seem to creap back in on you (those darn things ).

It's all about making wise choices, taking care of your health and well-beaing and finding a program you can do for the rest of your life. There are tons of great programs on here (WW, Atkin's, calorie counters, etc.). Take a good look around, get some ideas or maybe you already have something in mind. Just make sure it is something you can be comfortable with -- you have to do it forever. Even little changes, over time add up to a big change and a definite weight loss.

Good luck, ask anyone on here a question or for some help and you'll see tons of people jumping to help you out!!!

Hi, You are the right tract. You are ready to do something about your weight. Never wait untill "tomorrow". Right this min. is the time to start doing something. And Shelby was so right. It's not a diet. You have to commit to changing the way you eat. The old way made you fat, remember. Go back to that and you'll be the same way again. Change is hard for everyone. So, commit to yourself, to making yourself the best you can be. You will feel and look better, be proud of yourself. There is no easy way, and some days will be harder than others, but you will get through them. You can do it!!!

Smile Hi Christy

I said "I'll start tomorrow" too, I said it for far to many years. Then one day it finally sunk in that tomorrow was never going to get here & I had to think about what I should be doing today!
It might be tough in the beginning, but you have to remember that you're doing this for youself. Start with small goals if that helps. For me the thought of losing 100 lbs was overwhelming, instead I focused on 20 lbs & then when I lost that 20 more.
I think after a few weeks of healthy eating you'll find it a whole lot easier as your cravings for unhealthy food will go away. I try to eat natural, in other words nothing processed. Most processed food is full of hidden fats & sugars which just fuel your cravings. As far as I'm concerned, if I need a science degree to read the ingredients then it can't possibly be good for me!

And like Shelby said it's not a diet it's a lifestyle. A healty lifestyle!
