Hi from England

  • Ok I was surfing the net for diet info and stumbled across this site, so thought I'd join...

I'm 23 and from England. I became disabled when I was 19 and my weight has bounced up and down since, bit akward for me to get on scales though... but I've bounced up and down between sizes from a UK size 16 (USA 12 I think?) to a UK 26...granted the size 26 (USA 22??) was when I was pregnant and just afterwards, but still (I miscarried though, - don't want to talk about it though)

Anyway, I'm about a UK 22 again now, but want to be about a UK 16 again.

I've sorta been doing the slimfast diet but taking adios at the same time, it works, but to be honest I'm inpatient and want to go to sleep and wake up thinner, haha

Because I can't excersise anymore and stuff, I know that I can safely drop my calorie intake really low (I use an electric wheelchair most of the time) so I've dropped my intake to about 700 calories. I did this a few weeks ago and took a few weeks off and didn't put on the weight that I lost.

My biggest challenge is that a) I can't excersise and b) my brain doesn't understand messages sent from my nerves anymore cause of my condition...including the 'full' message when I eat...but in the same respect, alot of the time it doesn't understand the hungry message either (which ca be a blessing....but also a curse! Seldomly feeling hungry or full is a right pain in the *** tbh)

    Really just looking for support.
  • Hey Mynxie,

Welcome! Whereabouts in the NE are you? I grew up in the SE.

I would be careful about dropping to 700 calories a day. Even for someone who does not have much movement that may not be enough calories. If you don't eat enough your body will go into "survival mode" and shut down your metabolism and you'll stop losing weight. I would have a word with your doctor about the best diet for you.

But good luck with your weight loss goals. It'll be hard work but worth it in the end! Maybe buy a pair of jeans in the size that you want to be to give you something to work towards.

    Best wishes,
    Victoria
  • Thanks August

the jeans thing is exactly what I did, and today I got into the jeans (my first mini goal) so feeling pretty pleased with myself for that
  • Mynxie!!!!!!!

Think I may have to try the jeans thing myself!!
  • Welcome mynxie. I joined yesterday. I'm so sorry about your disability. Sounds like you are not letting it get in your way. Good for you. What a great attitude you have. I wish you luck and that's great you got into your jeans. I may have to try that myself.
  • welcome Lariann

    Thanks August and Lariann

I'm really chuffed that my jeans fit

If you're gonna do the same lariann, buy them like 1 size smaller and make sure you REALLY like them, that's what I did, if they'd been alot smaller I'd probably have given up (granted mine were nealy 2 sizes smaller, but that's manufacturers sizing for you, haha)

    Thanks. I'll start small. I'm in a 12 now so I'd like to shoot for a 10. I haven't been in a 10 in years!!
