Hey.
My name is Nikki, I'm 21-years-old, Canadian... and a bit fat. Although my BMI says I'm only slightly overweight (I think it's just under 26 or something like that), I'd still like to shed off these unwanted pounds. I've been pretty successful so far, losing nearly 18 pounds over the past month and a half. I still have a ways to go, but I'm actually enjoying eating healthier and getting more exercise.
I do count calories, but I also focus on carb content (my doctor recommended I try to cut back on the carbs because of a minor metabolic issue), cholesterol and fat grams. I try to get around 1500 calories a day, give or take, in order to keep my weight loss steady without risking slowing down my metabolism. I've been doing quite a bit of research on BMR, metabolic processes and different types of exercise -- I'm hoping to put the knowledge to good use. I'd like to lose weight as quickly as possible, without making myself sick in the process. I despise extremely low-calorie crash diets (think Nicole Richie). The only thing you'll get outta those is ten pounds of weight loss followed by poor health followed by gaining it all back.
I'm currently 141lbs, although that weight might be a little off because I've just started my period. My starting weight was just under 160. I don't have a specific goal weight in mind, though I think 110-120 seems like a decent range to aim for, as I'm only 5'2".
Looking forward to getting to know you guys. Good luck to everyone with your own weight-loss.
