She's a femme fatal! NEWBIEEE!
Hey all!
My name is Emily, I'm 15. and I am aiming to loose some extra pounds. I weight 115 and I am 5'4" I want to make it to a healthy 107. I am planning on taking in 1200 calories minimum and 1300 at most on weekends. No more ice cream at all. (That being the all the junk I have.) So sorry DQ looks like you don't have a customer for your Blizzards with pb cup! =p But anywho, with me only having to loose a good 8 pounds, I am confident that this can happen quickly. So hey all! Hope all is well. Drop me a line if you please! :carrot: |
What is unhealthy about 115? That is a perfectly acceptable weight for your height! Perhaps just try adding exercise instead of changing your diet so you look more toned :)

Emily,
Hi and I got to agree 115 lbs is a very healthy weight. Why do you feel the need to go to 107? You are a teenager who is still growing, if you are not eating right you will not grow right. Teenage girls , if memory serves me right , should be eating 1500-1900 calories a day. cheryl |

Welcome, Emily! I think it's great that you want to be healthy. As a former Blizzard fan myself, I agree that DQ doesn't need either of us as regular customers (although occasional treats are fine).
But I used to get caught by black and white thinking about nutrition - either Blizzards or eating a very low number of calories a day. But those aren't the only two options - instead we can eat a healthy amount of really really healthy calories. You might want to do some reading on nutrition and whole foods, such as the Omnivore's Dilemma or Super Foods. There's some good information on the nutrition page of girlpower dot gov. If you have any reports to do for school next year and you have any choice over what to write about, maybe you could do one on this topic. I can understand why you might think that you need to lose weight - there's a lot of social pressure in that direction in our society. Like the others who have posted have pointed out, though, you're already at a healthy weight, and as a teenager you shouldn't go below 1600 calories a day. I'd check with your doctor and maybe see a nutritionist to get their professional advice about weight and calorie levels. Not as a substitute for that, but in addition, there's lots of great information on this site about nutrition and exercise. The site can be a bit confusing at first because there are so many different forums. Here are some links to forums and threads that you might be most interested in: Teens threads: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...ighlight=teens http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...ighlight=teens Whole foods: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=209 Maintenance: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=170 Body Image: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=219 |
I agree with the others, Emily. You are at a good weight now; I'll bet you're into some pretty small sizes already. :)
The important thing is to be healthy. The poster who said you might want to try toning up instead of losing weight was correct, IMO. I'll bet if you do that you will be very happy with how you look. Good luck and welcome!! |
Welcome Emily!
