Brand new :]

Hiya guys! My name's Brianna, I'm 17yrs old, and I'm brand new on this forum. From browsing around, it appears to me that the majority of you here on the forum are much older than I, and have already had children and dealt with weight issues in the past. For all of you achieving your goals and making a difference, congratulations! From witnessing my own mother struggle with weight and a thyroid problem, it can obviously be seen that it isn't an easy battle. Anyway, to give ya'll a little insight on me and my weight history, I've had an eating disorder since I was approximately 11 years old. I was always the type of kid to be able to eat whatever they wanted without gaining weight. Unfortunately, puberty brought an abrupt end to my skinny-minnie days, causing me to gain weight primarily in my chest area. I was in 3rd grade when I began wearing a bra, and needless to say, it was the most humiliating thing I believe I've ever had to go through. I felt as though I was being robbed of my childhood at too early of an age...too early for me to handle. I was always exceptionally tall for my age, thus, weight never posed as an issue. When I was 11, however, my growth (height-wise) began to slow down considerably and I began to pack on a little bit of weight. Keep in mind, no one else has ever considered me "chunky" or "overweight" by any means, however, my ED and distorted body-image creates psychological havoc. Consequently, I'm dealing with EDNOS (according to my psychiatrist and psychologist). While I'm sure many of you here are aiming for that womanly, curvaciously-thin appearance, I'm more in favor of thin, waif look. Currently, I'm 127lbs at 5'6, and my goal weight is 110lbs. So, I've got 17lbs more to go. If anyone can offer me any motivational tips and/or tricks, PM me! :] Stay strong guys <3

Welcome and good luck. According to healthy weight charts you are at a good weight right now.110 will be pretty thin for your height. The thin, waif look is what you see on Nicole Richie, not at all attractive.

Nicole Richie..

But Nicole Richie has put on some weight, and I think she looks better every day! I didn't like it when it looked like she was going to fall and shatter into pieces though..

Yeahhh. I understand that's how most people feel. However when you have an eating disorder, you don't think that way. In my mind, thinner is the winner. Even average-size individuals are considered heavy in my eyes. It's rather troublesome; I'm always comparing myself to others...sizing both them and myself up according to weight: the thinner you are, the more perfected and strong the individual. I know, I know. I simply can't shake my beliefs. Being considered "average" is an insult to me. Argh. It's no fun.

Thanks for the replies you guys! :]
