Determined...
Hi! Just here for the first time tonight. I read the 3FC book a few weeks ago and just loved it. Who knew a diet book could be so entertaining? :)
Let's see. I'm a single female. 38 years old. Determined to be a healthy 40. :) I've been doing low-carb since the end of March. After years of dieting and trying to lose in spite of being hypothyroid, it's finally coming together. It's really tough for me to lose and I have to be good at least 80% of the time if I have any hope of at least staying the same. When I started this time, my goal was to not be obsessed about this. Over the years, I've come to understand what works best for me. I've finally gotten to the point of putting it all together long-term and it's working! I'm so happy! I started at (gulp...first time to announce it!) 280. As of this morning, I was 258. My goal to be at 255 by the 4th of July is right on track! I should, at least, almost get there. I'm sticking with a goal of 2 pounds a week...slow and steady...and, hopefully, more in control of my emotions re: food. So far, so good. So, that's me! Looking forward to hanging out here! K. |

Hello and welcome! I understand about the hypothyroid making it harder as I have the same problem (had a tumor removed a couple years ago). But it can be done; we just have to work at it huff puff puff. :)

Welcome! We have a forum for people struggling with thyroid and other issues - check out "Dieting with Obstacles" for more information.
The good news is...we have many folks on here who have succeeded against these obstacles! Settle in, ask questions, and keep posting. Can't wait to get to know you better soon. Amanda |
Thanks everyone! I appreciate the welcome.
I was diagnosed about 4 years ago...after a 9-month plateau on Weight Watchers. Over time, I've discovered (through effort or via the internet) what seems to help. I've finally gotten around to putting it altogether...and not allowing the diagnosis to paralyze me in this quest...and it's working. I really got serious mid-May (consecutive "good" days). I can't believe I've lost 23 pounds in about 6 weeks. That just floors me. It's been so long that I've had this kind of success. I hit a plateau for about 20 days in June. For the first time, I didn't go nuts over it (well, the last few days were a little dicey!) That alone is a major NSV for me. I'm not obsessing. I'm not focused on food all the time. I have to tell you...for the first time EVER I feel in control of my emotional eating baggage. Still don't love exercising but I've been doing it every morning (hence the end to the plateau!) for about a week now. The results speak for themselves. I have no excuse now! :cheer2: Feels so good! |
