Hi, I'm Melanie

I'm joining today because I have a little over 100 lbs to lose, and the before & after pictures here have inspired me so much. I tend to feel so alone in real life, because it's hard to admit you have so much weight to lose, and it's hard to find people in a similar situation... so I'm hoping that I can find some people here to feel support from! I used to be a huge message board addict (mommy boards) but haven't posted on any in a long time. I do miss the support sometimes, though! Anyway, about me: I'm 27, I live in Connecticut, I am married and have a 5 year old (just turned) son. I work full-time and go to school part-time. Oh, and I weigh 272 pounds and I'm 5'8". That's really hard to admit. I want to get down to 165 or so, and maybe be able to shop at H&M and all those kind of stores - you know, the ones where if you're not a size 2 you look funny even going in there? But, honestly, I'd settle for a size 10 and being able to walk from class to my car without getting out of breath.

Hi Melanie

I just erased the reply to your email so I'm typing it again.

Glad to meet you. I'm LindaD from Southern California and I am new here too. I gained a lot of weight after my divorce 3 years ago and weigh 218 right now. I want to get to my normal weight of 145. I'm 5'4". I have 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren. My daughter and grandchildren live in WVA and my son moved in with me when I started my divorce. He has been a great help to me. I am an Investor Relations Underwriter for a major lender. I was working a lot of overtime but the company is closing in December and I don't have to work the long hours any more. So, instead of eating on the run and not having time to exercise, I now have the time to focus on losing the weight.

I'm happy you are here. I've been reading the posts and everyone seems so nice. A lot of people have lost a lot of weight and I'm hoping to be one of them.

Good luck to you!!

Hi Melanie, and welcome to 3FC,
We are the same height and similiar starting weights. It is hard to go shopping, and I can not wait to be in a normal size. I think anything is possible if you want it bad enough.
There are lots of great boards here, find the one right for you and you will love all the support and inspiration.
Good luck to you, you can do this!!

I'm fairly new too (been at it two weeks today) and I can't wait to fit in normal sized clothes.

Best wishes!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone - I am so glad for the support. It feels great to know that there are so many other people who understand where I'm coming from with this!
