hello all
I've been lurking around this forum for awhile and have decided to join it finally.
Originally from singapore (yeah, that weird place in Pirates of the Caribbean 3) but studying in Ohio now. Am spending summer at school doing biology research and living in an intentional community abt a mile from school.
I am hoping to lose something (around 10 pounds, more?) befor i go home in August coz I'm sick of ppl telling me I've gained weight after studying in America, blah, blah blah, liek its the only significant thing thatst happened to me in the past 2 years.
Where I'm from people tend to be small & anything over 110 pounds is considered fat. I've never thought of myself as either fat or thin, but my mother's always told me that I should lose weight since I was like 6, and people in general have been telling me that I was fat since I hit 112 pounds when I turned 16. But I had just discovered feminism then so didn't really care. I believe I've gained abt 16 pounds since starting college. So I guess I care now. And I would like to see if I can succeed in losing a substantial amt of weight.
I guess food is more of an issue for me than exercise. i LIKE pushing myself. I find it kind of spiritual. I ran cross coutnry throughout high school. I just started a 4-5 day a week running/biking/swimming/weight training schedule this summer (in May) (after a 5-month hiatus) and have increased my session times to an hour since then.
I'm just pretty much lost as to how best to eat. I haven't really watched what i ate ever. I'm going to try to cut back on dairy & white carb consumption, but I can't do low-carb coz the place where I live and have dinner is mostly vegetarian and the people cook lost of grains. I'm thinking of doing either calorie-counting, up day down day, or slimfast.
Any advice/support would be greatly appreciated!
