My first day here...on the way to being healthier!

I just started here tonight and figured I should do some sort of introduction because right now I am feeling a little clueless! I have been around computers forever, but have never used a site like this!

I am 31 years old. I am hoping to lose at least 60 more pounds. I have tried every kind of diet imaginable and am sick of dieting...I really just want to make the proper changes and keep them for life.

I have a very hectic job (law enforcement agency) and work crazy hours. I often use this as an excuse to eat crappy, but I know that I do this, so I am working on it! I have lost 40 pounds so far over the past year and a half, not really by any diet as much as by just paying attention to the food that is going in. I also use this as an excuse to NOT go to the gym. I am really trying to work on this as well.

I am hoping to find the support here that I don't feel I can receive from my friends and family.

It's scary losing weight...especially when you have been fat since you can remember. Who will I be if I lose 60 more pounds?? I know I'll still be me...but it's a little frightening!!

Not sure if I put too much or too little here...but thanks for reading!
Good luck to all!!

This is a GREAT place for support.

You will still be you. You will have some of the same problems, most of the same issues, and in a lot of ways, you'll have the same perception of your body as you have right now (at least for a little while). You will, however, be a healthier you. You will have more energy. You will have a reduced risk of disease that could take you away from your friends and family prematurely. You'll hopefully have a way of life that is healthy and sustainable, and you'll probably be a lot happier. It IS scary, and I KNOW where you're coming from...sometimes change is scary, especially when it is change from everything you've known. But it is possible, and worth it.

Keep posting - I look forward to hearing more from you!

Thank you!! I have to say that I entered our corporate challenge with some coworkers and while it was a race and a lot of people were running, I power walked with my coworker. It was 3.5 miles and I felt great when I was done! We even made a deal that we'd both work on being able to run/jog in the next race! I have an appointment Monday to get back to the gym and back into work out mode!
