A Diet Virgin

  • Hey Everyone!

I am embarking on my first ever attempt to eat properly. Growing up I was always very atheltic and with all the exercise I got I could pretty much eat anything I wanted without gaining weight.

I started college 4 years ago and as my free time got smaller, my waistline got bigger! I just graduated in December, working full time, and have started to get back into Sports and regular exercise, but I realize now it's time to make a change in my eating habits if I want to loose my "Muffin Top".

Myself, and a good friend have started weight watchers together and I am very motivated and excited, but also very scared. I have heard so many stories of loosing weight, then gaining it back, then loosing, and so on and I don't want that to happen to me.

Any advice for this Dieting Virgin?
  • Welcome!!!
College can be a killer on keep your weight down...I know I went and am still going throught the same thing...I can actually count the weight I gained for every final I had.... I've done ww and it's a wonderful program because you can still eat the same things you did before just in moderation. I've read the same things about loosing weight and gaining it back again and the one thing I've learned is that when you go on a "diet" don't think of it as a diet, think of it as changing the way you eat and the way you live you life forever, so even after you've reached you goal still be concious of portions and exercise. Good luck!!
  • I second the idea of not calling it a diet but just changing your life. Once I realized that I will have to be in the gym everyday until they put me in a coffin, I accepted that was my life. I will have to find a retirement home with an elliptical machine. This is not about hitting my goal, it is simply what my life is now.

It is a life that has hurdles and setbacks, just like every other part of my life, but little plates, daily exercise and mindful eating are just who I am now.

    I wish you wonderful success!
