Default Help, its all so confusing

I just joined today, but I really don't know which diet to use. I have tried so many in the past, WW, low-carb, diet pills, atkins, south beach. There is so much information available that I don't knowwhat to believe anymore. All I really want to do is lose weight. I would like to lose about 40 pounds. Any suggestions on where to start.

Maybe you should give up on "diets" completely. Just eat less, eat healthy and exercise more. Choose whole foods whenever possible, meaning unprocessed fresh foods like vegetables, fruits and lean meats. I definitely recommend a program like fitday.com to get you started because you can log all your food in and get an idea of not only how many calories you are consuming but how much fat, carbs, vitamines, etc. you're getting.
I tried Atkins last year and couldn't stick with it, too many rules, etc. and I KNEW I couldn't eat like that for the rest of my life. So I followed my own "no diet" plan, kept track of my calories, started exercising and went from 240 lbs. to 210.

I agree with Wisher. Ditch the diet and make it a life style change. Just eat healthier and maybe a little less.

(I would like to lose about 40 pounds. )
I agree with the rest, change a little at a time. I think losing weight starts in the mind, that's where it thinks "do I really need this piece of bread?"
In saying this, Your statement should read " I am going to lose 40lbs"
Positive statements seem to work better. Best of luck.

I agree, eating less and exercising more is the way to go. You can use the trick of using smaller plates. Seems to work on me. And eating every 2 to 3 hours. So you never let yourself go hungry.
Good luck, we can do this.

Thanks for all of the advice. It is just so hard to get started. I am going to try to just add more fruits vegetables and water and cut out sweets. That should help some.

What about Whole Foods or Superfoods Rx? I'll make a link when I find a thread about it. It just a nice assortment of good, plain foods.

here it is ... http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=209
