Smile New to this board, but not to losing weight ^_-

Hi everyone,

I'm quite glad that I found this site and have been browsing through the immense information presented here the entire morning and am back here again (even though I should be studying for my exams ) I have struggled with my weight for all of my life and was always teased as a kid called stupid names and got even exculed from games like spin the bottle (it sucks being a fat kid) I had my periods of weight loss, like when I was 14 I didn't eat anything sweet for 3 months and lost quite some weight. Then as the years crept by I kept gaining and then searching for a quick fix like most emotional overeaters I became first anorexic and then afterwards when my ex told me to lose weight, I became bulimic. After going through those hells I decided to stop harming myself that way and tried oh so many different diets.

Then prom came up and for two weeks I worked hard to lose weight but because of the bad situation at home I quit exercising and due to stress from the upcoming exams I reached my heighest weight 78 kg or 171 pounds! I felt horrible and sluggish and was really depressed. 2 more kg and I would weigh 80 kg and I had just turned 20.

I didn't do anything seriously about my weight except depriving myself and then binging the next day on sweets. I only made a real attempt when I started working 58 h a week at a chinese restaurant that I got sick and tired of not fitting into the biggest shirt and being able to wear only xl clothes. All the girls there were skinny and recieved loads of attention from the customers and cooks while I worked and slaved and did my best and was always ignored by the male population. I decided that I no longer wanted to be in this position and I made a real attempt to lose weight. I went on what I call a melon diet and in six months lost 22 pounds/10 kg and gained tons of lean muscle and lost a lot of fat.

However I still don't feel to great about the way I look and want to lose even more weight. My goal is to weigh somewhere between 58-53 kg (around 127-116 pounds) but without sacrificing muscle tissue. I want to look healthy and not starved so I might stop at 58 kg or continue. I am now really working hard on losing the last few pounds and I currently weigh around 148 pounds/ 67 kg and I'm really working hard, cycling an hour each day, doing cardio and eating less. I know that this time I'll be able to do it for sure and say goodbye to the buddha belly that has been keeping me company for nearly 22 years.

I also want to add that the stories from the members that I read on this board inspired me so much and gave me strenght that I needed to seriously do something about my appearance so that I can find peace within.

Good luck to us all, some day we'll all be able to reach our goals and thank ourselves for making the choice to work hard to become healthier and happier.

Hey there SerendipitySleeps,

Wow, you've been through a LOT. I hope you now have a food plan that is more moderate, without all those strange extremes. Good for you for losing the weight you have! Be sure you are eating in a balanced way, and you should be fine with keeping muscle. It's good that you are exercising--eat enough protein as well.

Cheers! See you around!
