Hello, new with 40 to go

Hi all! My name's Cathie and I'm married with two children, ages 2 years and 4 years old, both girls. I struggled with my weight in high school (graduated 10 years ago, btw), and lost 40 lbs in the course of 2 years using the Clinic 30 program one summer, and weight training in my senior year (30 lbs, then 10 lbs). Married in 1999, I took BCP and gained 10 lbs. Switched brands about a year or so later, gained ANOTHER 10 lbs. Haven't been able to drop that. After having two kids in 2003 and 2004, I am now 20 more lbs heavier. So I've got 40 lbs to get to a healthy BMI. I've tried Slim Fast Optima...4 hours...yeah right. We've recently switched to vegetarian meals also. So I'm hoping that helps. I'm also a member of the YMCA and go...2 or 3 times a week to cycle for 30 minutes. Started that a couple months ago. So far, no weight change. My class reunion is in August...and while I'd love to weigh 120 lbs (by the way, I'm under 5'2" with a small bone frame) by then, I'm trying to be realistic and would love it if I can just weigh 140 lbs by then. I recently ordered HHA and am expecting that any day now in the mail. My main areas are my stomach, hips, thighs and butt. I sort of still look pregnant and it's been 2 years! :( I'm...unfortunately...not a motivated person. I think that's what has been the most difficult thing. I sit here and say "Ehh...I don't feel like going today...there's too much snow." So...working out in home I have no excuse. :p I work better with a trainer like I had in high school (it was a school class). Someone standing over me saying "One more press come on!" I joined the weight loss group at WebMD but I just don't get a sense of real community there so I've come here. Happy to join and I look forward to getting to know you all as I forge my way forward!

Hi Cathie!

:wel3fc:

I've had great success using Fitday. You can check it out at www.Fitday.com
It is free, too! I was on an EIGHT MONTH plateau, and Robin from this site suggested that MAYBE Fitday would help me. Turns out that once I measured my food and entered it all in every day, I discovered that I was eating WAAAAAY more calories than I THOUGHT I was eating! You may find that Fitday helps you, too! I've lost nine pounds since I began using Fitday at the end of last month. I was at a standstill prior to that.

Welcome, Cathie!

Good for you for starting a plan! One thing to watch for on vegetarian diets is that it's easy to eat too many carbs. Always be sure you're getting enough protein. I think Cheryl14's suggestion about FitDay is good, too. I use it faithfully.

Sounds like you're doing exercise, and that's good! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Good luck!
Jay
