Smile I need someone to hold my hand...

I'm a 27 yr old WAHM of one wonderful little boy. I can't keep up with him. I've been heavy for a long time, five years ago I lost a lot just out of a lifestyle change, but it crept back on me, and then some. I was at my then highest weight ever of 220 when I got pregnant, ballooned to 260 just before giving birth, dropped down to 230 with light exercise but then depression found me and I weigh just a bit more than I did when I gave birth. I'm starting the BFL (for women) challenge on the first of this month. I have some goals. Namely, I want agility and the energy to keep up with my sweet boy. I want to be able to buy my clothes in the misses section, and I want them to fit. I want to get to a point when my bottom half matches my top (always larger down there). What I really need is for someone to hold my hand. Thanks.

The BFL food lists are fabulous! That's a good choice. And the exercise? GREAT! If I even try to do something remotely like the exercise recommendations, I do very well.

If I don't find you in the Ladies Who Lift threads, I'll post a link here.

Hi Brook!

Welcome!

You've come to the right place! Did you know that as of right this moment we have 65,455 members in our "little" community? That's 130,910 hands to give you to hold!

You can do this! I KNOW how active little two-year-olds are, and they DO require a LOT of energy! When my boys were that age I can't remember ever sitting down let alone resting or reading a book or even having time for a bubble bath!

Here's the good news... When you begin losing the weight you will have TONS more energy! I was 275, sluggish and blah. I began walking just 30 minutes a day and after losing just 15 pounds felt like a new woman! I know that it's hard taking a two-year-old on any walk that doesn't include running into people's yards to grab him out of their bushes or distract him from eating all kinds of wonderful "stuff" that he finds along the way (been there, done THAT!) My solution for you? The walking DVDs like Walk Away the Pounds (Leslie Sansone) I'm a real fan of hers! Using DVDs that you can even get at your local library can be done at home where you have the security that your child is right there, safe AND seeing you getting healthy FOR him!

Walking was responsible for me losing my first fifty pounds! It costs nothing and gives you energy AND a firmer butt and legs! What's not to love about THAT?!!!!

When people would tell me how exercise would give me energy I remember just staring at them in disbelief! I had never been an exerciser! I took the leap of faith and went for my first walk in February 2000. I've been hooked ever since! My finest moment? Walking TEN MILES last year on a walk with my husband and being able to keep up with his long legs (OK, I DID periodically need to JOG to keep up!) A few years before that I would get winded just walking from the car to the grocery store!

You can do this...for your son, but also FOR YOU!!! We are right there for ya, Brook!

Cheryl

Body For Life challenges?

If you google, it'll take you to a site with lots of good info but they're trying to sell stuff. Basic? it's an eating, cardio and weights plan.

You could put it in a search here too.

Body for life is a 12 week challenge... You can do it officially through the site or just on your own with the book which the library has most of the time, it's getting to be pretty old ... We have a thread in Ladies Who Lift, not a challenge per se but they discuss it a lot... MAny of the ladies who post regularly on the weekly chat thread of LWL follow a modified BFL eating plan...

Let me see if I can link the whole forum. The stickies at the top are full of really good stuff.

Thanks everybody. I'll be using the watp on my cardio days and work up to having it every day, even before lifting. Then hopefully I'll switch to that dusty nordictrack in the garage on my cardio days. I have all the "tools" I need, I'm just having trouble with the motivation/depression. I hope that I do well sticking to this twelve week challenge and that it will give me that jump start I need for a lifetime of good habits.

Brook you can do this. You have found a great place here at 3FC. We are all in this together and you are now a member of a GREAT team. Welcome to the club and GOOD LUCK!!!

By the way once you get started and things start moving along the motivation GREATLY increases. Oh one other thing, I use the WATP videos all the time. They're really good.
