Hello, a newbie in the mix

Hi everyone! My name is Z, a 28 year old work from home mom in Florida.
I have 2 children, my daughter will be 4 in 11 days (March 9th) and my son will be 2 in 2 days (Feb. 28.) I have been happily married for almost 6 years. I heard about this forum a while ago and just joined today. I started my weight loss journey on October 23rd weighing 235 pounds and since then I have managed to love 25 pounds. I am 5'11.5 so the weight does not show on me, but inside I was not happy and wanted to get back to my pre-babies athletic body that I was used to.

My goal weight is between 165 to 180. If my scale can even get into the 170s I will be more than happy. I currently work out 1.5 hours daily, give or take a day. For the past 6 weeks I have been stuck at 210 and started to get discouraged. But hoping the scale will start moving again. Today I jumped it up a notch by walking the park for 1 hour. I have also replaced a meal with low fat yogurt. We will see if that helps. Keep your fingers crossed for me:carrot:

Welcome Zaja ...

Everyone has those weeks when that scale just doesn't want to budge for some unknown reason. Just look around here and you'll see; many believe it's a plateau where the body decides it wants a rest for awhile and holds onto the weight for a while. But eventually, you will lose some more; just keep on plan and don't be too hard on yourself.

The extra walking will surely help; and with young children, that's a great way for you all to get some fresh air. You are very tall, and tall people can weigh more and still look great; but, I really think perservance is the key here. This site can offer you great support and lift your outlook again. Glad you joined us ~ a fellow encourager ... Rosebud.

Thank you so much for the welcome! I hope my body decides that it does not like this weight and starts losing again. I worked out hard today. According to my workout log I burned 720 calories by adding the 1 hour walk. I had fun too! The kids loved it.

Hi Z!

Welcome!

When I read that you had been stuck at 210, I just HAD to respond! I, too, was stuck at 210 -the difference between you and me is that I was literally stuck there for EIGHT MONTHS!!! :tantrum: No matter what I would do, I was S-T-U-C-K! I didn't gain, I didn't lose! I even had my family get on the scale to see if it COULD register some number other than 210!!!!

Anyway, one of our HUNDRED POUND LOSERS here, Robin, (Thanks again, Robin! ) acquainted me with FITDAY. www.fitday.com It is free and you can record what you are eating and the exercise that you are doing each day. It keeps track of calories for you, too. I began using it a month ago. With the help of FITDAY I was able to corral my calories and lose nine pounds! I found that I was eating WAAAAY more than I thought I was eating calorie-wise! I started measuring my portions, too. That was a big surprise to me how large my portions were compared to what they SHOULD have been.

I've been exercising all along, but the big change recently has been my portion sizes. I also discovered that I was a "taster" as I cooked. I love to cook and bake. I KNEW I was a sucker for the cookie dough, but as I REALLY began looking at my eating habits with a clear head, I discovered that a cup of mozzarella went on the top of the homemade pizza I would make , and a cup would go INTO MY MOUTH as I was MAKING that pizza! :jeno:

Watch out for the snacking you do! I found that I was eating as I was cooking and cleaning up, finishing that "last little bit" in the bag or bowl, and also eating more than I thought I was eating because I never MEASURED the amounts!

Good Luck! If I can do this thang, YOU can do it!

Cheryl

"No matter what I would do, I was S-T-U-C-K! I didn't gain, I didn't lose! I even had my family get on the scale to see if it COULD register some number other than 210!!!!"

OMG, we must be twins!! I did the same thing. I almost threw the darn thing out thinking it had to be broken until my DH got on it and reported that "Wow! I'm down to 179!" from his usual weight at 190 at 6'2" and has not done one day of dieting or exercise:devil: What on earth! We bust our butts trying to lose all this week, yet they lose it like water and snack on cheese its all day long with remote in the other hand.:dizzy:

It hit me yesterday too about my portions. I realized that I am probably eating large portions. SO cutting them down with some yogurt. I also don't drink a lot of milk so I am reintroducing that into my system too.

Just went to Fitday and realized I already had an account. Thanks for reminding me it was there!
