hello eveyone ,First time on this site. Wanting to get healthy!

:dizzy: Hello My name is amanda. Where do I start, I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. Yesterday I was reading oprahs magazine and it mentioned this website. It seems really supportive and helpful. I am a mother have one and have husband that can eat anything and not gain a pound so it is fustrating. I have a huge problem with emotional eating. I also dont know where to begin when it comes to eating healthy. HELP. I want to lose 40 lbs. Well i hope to meet some really cool people by joining this program .

Amanda, welcome to the list. I am new here, too. Can't tell you where to start, but for me I am just starting with calorie counting (big eye opener for me...:yikes:), and finding some exercise I can enjoy doing (skating and biking to start for me). Take a look around. I'm sure you will find some place here that gives you an idea of what will work for you. Good luck! We can do this! :carrot:

Hi Mandy! Hi Cheryl!

Welcome!

I have a little more than forty pounds to lose, too, Mandy! I let Fitday do my calorie counting, Cheryl, and it REALLY helps! Glad to have you both here! Take time to peep around. There's A LOT to read and many great inspirational people here as well!

Welcome Ladies ...

Mandy there are some tools and ideas here that can help you; look around the different forums. I think making small changes is best at first. Try things like 1) eliminate all the junk food and fast food; 2) get lots of fruit and veggies and other healthy snack foods; 3) go for a walk each day.

That's a good start for now; until you find a gym or other kind of exercise that you like to do. Cheryl ... talk about calorie-counting, when I found out how many calories there are in a slice of pizza, a large fry, milkshake, or a big hamburger, I was shocked too. There are some foods that I will never be eating again. Instead, I make my own lower-calorie versions. You'll find some great recipes here too.

Jump right in, read a lot, post often; and you'll soon be on your way! I just know that you are going to love it here ~ a fellow encourager ... Rosebud.

Thanks for the support! The calorie countin was super helpful. It is a shocker to see all the calories you put in your mouth. I walk 30 min a day so I guess that is a star. I was wondering how do you put your weight chart thing. I cant get my pic up either. You can tell I am not good computers.
