Default I'm New ... And Wondering How This Happened

Hi. I'm new to the forum, having finally commited to making a change. I have two children, a teenager and a pre-teen. While pregnant with my youngest child, I topped out at 199 lbs. Within a year of her birth I was back to my original weight of 140 (I'm 5'8"). Somehow (well, not really somehow, as I do know how) I now weigh more than ever -- 215 lbs.

I am definitely an emotional eater -- happy, sad, heck, even when I'm neutral I love to eat. I need another focus in my life and I am firm about making a change. I want to be healthier.

I do exercise -- I walk 2 - 4 miles almost daily. I know I'll need to step it up.

Sorry for the rambling. Just wanted to say "hello" and tell you how much I look forward to being a part of this community.

Height: 5'7"

Talking I can relate

I have FOUR kids and I was down to 132 after my fourth. But I too love to eat ~ it's the one thing I looked forward to when out with friends and I loved eating in front of the TV or at the movies and when my kids ate fast food with their fast motabolisms I ate it too...but mine didn't burn it up like theirs did so I too went from 132 to 205.5. Maybe higher because I didn't weigh on the first day. But you are ahead of the game if you're walking 2-4 miles a day. Now just find a good nutritional program to follow and stick with it. I am doing The Diet Center but there are many good programs to choose from. Meet some people on here and weigh in weekly and don't look at in as the total amount you have to lose just think of it in 10 pound increments. I like to just get to the next level for example todays goal is to get into the 190's and I'm so close....and then i'll be thinking about reaching the 180's. you know? It's ok....substitute the good foods for the bad. Like normally when I'm stressed out I'd eat hershey kisses until I was sick but yesterday I grabbed a bag of carrots and ate those until I was sick. Or a hot bath or go for a walk. Substitution is the key.

You can do it....
