Hi all....

:?: I'm new at this ... I read about this website in the "O" magazine. I've been trying to lose weight off and on *forever*. My youngest child just turned 4 and I am just miserable with my current weight. I remember feeling so motivated after having her and how anxious I was to shed the pounds. Here it is 4 years later and I'm at my highest weight ever... I just can't seem to get motivated at all right now. Any suggestions or words of encouragement would be *so* appreciated.:?:

Hey there, :welcome:

Well, deciding to post a thread is a good first step! It tells me that you do have the desire to have a desire, if nothing else.

One thing might be to do some journaling. I don't mean anything fancy, just make a list of all the reasons that you would want to lose weight, and how you feel about each of them. And, you could make a list of all the things that are stopping you, and how you might solve some of them.

Just a few ideas--I'm sure lots of folks here will have other ideas! Basically, becoming more physically active and watching what we eat is the idea.

Good luck!
Jay

Thanks Jay. I'm still working my way around this place. Journaling is a good place to start. The weather has been so yucky around here that it is hard to get excited about exercise. Not that I get excited about exercise during fair weather;-). Thanks for the note!

hey Joan, I see we're the same height. Well, I started off at almost 245. This IS acheivable, and don't ever doubt it! :) I just signed up the other day, but I've been doing WW since March of last year. And it would never work without the journalling. :) I know there are a bunch of programs online for journalling, find one you like and good luck! :D

Hi Morgan,

It is *SO* good to get notes! I'm gearing myself up mentally and physically on this end. I was just checking out the journal site and I'm confused... do people write random thoughts. It is a bloggy thing???

Yeeeeeeeeeahhhhhh... I just took a quick peek, and I think so, the journal section on here does seem to be bloggish. If you're looking for a food tracker type of journal, I know google will come up with some options. One that I've seen mentioned on here is FitDay, another I know of is at calorieking, and for me, I'm paying for it on Weight Watchers. *grins* For me, I'm more likely to smarten up if I'm paying for it. That and the points are easier for me than figuring out calories all the time.
