Whaaaaa?????!!! Like an Almomd Joy? GNC? Please spill the beans!
|
HIS - congrats!!! So happy for you :D you know muscle memory is pretty amazing - you'll be back to form in no time - but a careful 'no time' - no more fractures!!!
Linda - I found one of those little f***ers crawling up my leg the other weekend after working in the yard - BLAH!!!! Sue - fantastic picture :D you look amazing! Congrats on the 10's and enjoy the freedoms of P4 So DH and I were playing with fueling this morning on our 10 miler / last really long run before the 13.1 and I'd bought a chocolate coconut flavored GU to try at the last expo we went to - just funny Linda posts about finding a chocolate coconut Combat bar...the GU was a little taste of heaven / just like a Mounds bar :p hit the spot! We're on our way to our nieces bday party and I get to spend the day with my in-laws :crazy:woo hoo - if anyone has calming / drama free thoughts, send them my way today  |
Beth..calming thought heading your way.
Speaking of p4 bars, it appears that there is a lot of raves for oatmeal bars. I am thinking I should find a few before we leave tomorrow. Well, Hawaii time is here. I lost 1 # last week in p3. I'll take it. Coach is suggesting about 1700 kcal to maintain. I have mfp set at 1200, and figure with the action earnings I will be close to 1700, though I would like to keep a bit of a deficit and continue to loose. Aloha, friends..I wI'll try to send some sun back. |
Headed to airport for early morning flight. Found the oatmeal bars at target, tried one (mint) last night. It was quite good.
Hard day with meals yesterday had an egg and ip trail mix for lunch do to being short on time and dh eating a mcrib while I was getting my hair done. So by the time I arrived in Chicago I was quite hungry. I wanted faster food because I wanted to get to hotel. We opted for panda express. I feel I did pretty good. I had the bowl - 1 entree and 1 side. I asked for 1/2 veggies and 1/2 brown rice (omg the calories in a full serving of brown rice were over 420) with spicy shrimp (200 calories) . So I had a full meal at a fast food restaurant for under 500 calories. I would go back, but I would do all steam veggies the next time and steal a fork or 2 of rice from dh. |
Back from vacation, what a beautiful part of the country Virginia is! We've been there before, but just briefly, passing through almost, so it was nice to explore this time.
I decided not to worry about food, ate/drank what I wanted, didn't worry too much, had wine, beer, cake, lots of stuff to nibble on...all bad stuff, but meals were reasonable. Didn't log in MFP, didn't weigh, till I got home, and fully expected a lb or 2 up, but nope, all is good, stayed the same :) Yesterday though, I went to a shower at lunchtime, then DS took me out for dinner, so 2 bad meals, and this morning, scale is up 1, so today I decided a P1 day would be a good idea, even just to get me back on track with eating, I found the snacking was getting to be too easy, and I don't want to fall back into that habit. Must say I'm not liking this P1 day so far, feeling a bit hungry!!:( Lots of news from you all to catch up on while I was gone, seems like a lot has been going on this week!! But glad that everyone is doing well. A busy week ahead for me. Getting caught up on everything that should have been done while I was gone. This week my clinic is bringing in Chef Verati to talk and demonstrate some recipes, should be an interesting evening. Then next weekend, we're having a plant/yard sale - we have a lot of perennials, and a few years ago started having a plant sale in the spring with a neighbour, they moved, but now we keep doing it, people kind of expect it now. Besides, the yard sale part makes us go through stuff that we don't need/use, surprising how much there is! Hope you're all having a great weekend! |
Blue - you are doing amazing in maintenance! I am honestly happy to see you and Linda not struggling. I almost wish I hadn't been bit by the running bug...wonder how much different things would be now...
Glad your trip was nice - did you concentrate on Williamsburg & out of curiosity, did you stay at Great Wolf? Always getting Groupons for the resort and have heard good things - but get the impression its more 'family / small children' oriented. Sue - Aloha! Have a great vacation! The OatMega are amazing! My new favorite is the white chocolate/raspberry - I don't like Combat or (old) Quest in that flavor, but the OatMega *drool* & I have yet to be able to try the blueberry or lemon flavored...and refuse to pay $$$$$ to order them online. They are just always sold out locally. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I decided Saturday to not think about the news I got Thursday- but it kind of set in & hit hard(er) last night... Although not confirmed by my Senior manager, it is definite the company is going with the software that will eliminate my teams jobs :( It was a tough pill to swallow Thursday when I got the news right before lunch. Worst case scenario, I am packing my desk this week. Best case, we are offered incentives to stay on & finish 2016 & help with the transition to the new software with termination March 2017. Regardless, I have less than a year left in my current position. Needless to say, resumes started going out Thursday afternoon & Friday. I am really proud of myself for how well (so far) I've dealt with the stress. I got a little hungry Thursday afternoon but had celery and PBFit to take the edge off. Then we did a hard weight training routine Friday afternoon and ran 10 miles Saturday morning - you can't get a better release than running 10 miles of HILLS  and thank you to those who sent the calming thoughts, they really helped and Saturday afternoon with my in-laws was 95% drama-free :D You just don't know... Sunday was quiet and we took a family walk with the dog to the park and back (4 miles) Unfortunately, after we got back, DD11 was playing on her trampoline and landed a back flip funny / hurt her back. What concerned me was that while it hurt when she did it, it got progressively worse - but she never stopped moving around (ie - she can walk, sit, lie down) but sudden movements hurt. I think its whiplash - no fun! She was able to sleep through the night and I called her pediatrician this morning. They said unless she started complaining more / ibuprofen didn't help, to let her rest for today & if there is not improvement by tomorrow, to take her for x-rays. Blue - sorry I never PM'd you about your friend / help updating my resume...deep down I was really hoping they were going to choose the other software and I was going to keep my job. I was keeping my head in the sand about the realities...*sigh* Do they have an email or website you could PM me? Thanks! |

I am so sorry I've been MIA everyone. Lots of stressful events, but nothing major by itself. My in-laws were in town this past weekend. It went well except that my son has Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease and was clinging to me the entire weekend. My back is killing me. He's a big 2-year-old.
Beth Yick. That is one big suck about your job. Glad you are handling stress well. I suck at handling stress and I'm a therapist. Ha! Anyway, wishing you well and hopefully this change will lead to something even better. Sue You did great at Panda Express. You're thinking about your meal, and I am find that to be a huge difference post-IP. I consider my options and make better choices. blue I am sooo jealous at how well you do maintenance. I am hanging in there, but it's a struggle. I feel like my body fluctuates within 5 lbs in a week and it's driving me nuts. It sounds like you have a good mind set and make good choices even when you splurge. Yay! That's awesome, and glad you enjoyed vacation and Virginia. HIS Congrats on getting back to your speedy self!!! Wishing everyone well...Getting through maintenance and stress and everything pretty well. I have some vacation time ahead of me, but I see myself making good choices. My in-laws were in town this past weekend and compliment DH and I on taking our health seriously. Talk to you everyone later. |
Still getting caught up with everyone, the weekend was busy, and I didn’t have a chance to post much.
Candi – Congratulations on Phase 4. It seems everyone has to find their own “normal” here, it’s a bit of trial and error, I found tracking on MFP helped to see how many calories, carbs etc I was eating, and what levels were best for me. I’m starting to feel more confident with indulgences, like cake and wine and cookies and such…but I’m finding that when I want something, I make darn sure it’s something I really like, not wasting those carbs on mediocre cookies :) You mentioned exercise – do you have a fitbit or such? With work and running around after the kids, you’re probably getting in more than 10k steps, so even without any formal exercise, you shouldn’t worry too much. You’ll find a way to fit something in eventually. Beth – I’m jealous of your arms, but thrilled for you, of course. Getting rid of the fat is one thing, heck, we can all do that …but adding muscle – that’s fabulous!!! Your dress for the wedding sounds beautiful (pics to come???) Linda – sounds like you’ve got the maintenance routine figured out, that’s been so encouraging for me to watch you keeping it all together, you’ve found such a nice balance. ….chocolate coconut combat bars :T I have to find those!! The only IP bar I really liked was the chocolate coconut one, I’ve been tempted to go buy a box, but this sounds even better. Only place I could find it online is Vitamin Shoppe, might have to order it! HIS – OMG – you’ve certainly had a lot of family troubles all at once, that’s a lot to handle. Glad you enjoyed your FL trip, and hope you’re having a great time on the cruise. Great news about the running, with your P1 reboot and back to running, you’ll be in great shape in no time! Sue – The house sold!! Wonderful news for you! Now you can concentrate on the new place. And size 10! Even more wonderful news! Hope you’re having a fabulous time in Hawaii! Can’t wait to hear how you managed P4, though I’m sure you’re doing amazingly well! Beth – we didn’t stay at Grey Wolf, stayed at a Marriot resort, really nice place. I found a few Oatmega bars while away, but not the white choc/raspberry – sounds good, thanks for the tip. I haven’t had a chance to try any of the others yet. I also found Somersaults (can't find any around here, at least not close by). Love the sea salt, but for sure have to watch the portions! Too easy to eat more than I should. Oooh, that’s a nasty sounding spill our DD11 took, keeping fingers crossed it’s just a bad bump and will heal fast. That sucks about the job, but at least you were kind of prepared for it. Hope there’s a long transition time for you. I sent you a PM about the resume info. Hope I haven't missed anyone, so much happens in just a week :dizzy: Guess I better think about dinner, today's been busy and I haven't thought about it, not like me, but there's probably something we can grill, and maybe a salad. Happy Monday! Hope you all have a great week! |
Blue - thank you for the PM :)
Somersaults are amazing, but so addicting - and my brain is still adjusting to proper serving sizes and I think it's something like 7 - 10 per serving, just a handful literally, for 140(ish) calories... not a lot imvho Going to 'work the guns' this afternoon ;) need to be careful about going too "Hulkish" - I already have one M shirt that I should have returned for a Women's L but didn't and now it is WAY too tight across the arms / shoulders. Thank you & yes, my friend has hired a profession photographer for her wedding, so pics to come :D Candi - I am honestly surprised - it has to be the exercise keeping me sane - & trust me, I've had near-panic-attack moments - had one an hour ago while cleaning up my office (we're moving to a new space, regardless of this new development). I just get really low (weather not helping :( ) and want to cry...what really sucks is not being able to talk about it with anyone here DD1 is fine...she was outside yesterday afternoon on the trampoline again. I didn't want to discourage her - 'get back on the horse' and all that - and was glad she returned to school today. Had a bit of a run-in with the munchies yesterday afternoon, less than an hour before DH & I went out for our training run :yikes: :o absolutely learned what NOT to eat to fuel for ANY type of run. The cramps and side stitches were horrible. I forced myself to slog through the run...kept telling DH to go on b/c I was really slacking. To his credit, he stuck with me to make sure I was ok. Packing, sorting & recycling today. Took all my personal pictures down. I'm not putting anything back up if I make it to my new cube. I really just wish they'd tell us what's going on - it's not really a secret anymore - but the lack of communication makes me think other negotiations are on-going and could have to do with implementation. We were originally told 1/1/17, but I think that could move back to July or October of this year. |
Hi all quick post on way back from volcano in hawaii. Sounds like a lot has been going on. Beth sorry about you position, hopine that the closing of this door can lead to a much better opportunity. Blue glad to hear vacation went well.
I am posting from a mobile phone so I will have to do more comments later. My main reason for stopping by tonight is to ask a bit about p4. It has been hard to seperate fat and carbs while on vacay. I have been trying to track accurately in mfp and think my total calories have been under 1800, with my fitbit reading 2300 to 2400 kcals expended. It seems that this should be ok, but I don't want to blow my progress to date. Trying hard to cut portions of carbs in half, and find my self focused on veggies and protein first. Moving to condo tomorrow which should help with meals, but I am sure the condo will also have snacks. |
Sue - hope you're having a wonderful time in Hawaii!! So envious, I've never been.
Don't stress too much about P4, you can undo anything once you're back home. If it helps, when I started P4 on my vacation, I tried to avoid obvious carbs - no sandwiches for lunch, salads instead, with regular dressing, chicken caesar is always good, added cheese for fat, anything with avocado. I found dinners easier than lunches actually. For dinner, I had the usual protein and veggies, maybe a baked potato, nothing breaded or cheesy or too saucy. You should have lots of seafood choices there. Saved my carb calories for snacks, fruit. That seemed to work pretty well for separating fats and carbs, but have to say I never managed to get the 3:1 or 4:1 ratio they suggest, usually closer to 2:1....Don't worry if you can't do it perfectly, this is the time to enjoy :) |
Sue - I am with Blue - any damage can be undone. Go with the flow...be mindful, but don't stress - and enjoy the fresh fruits and veggies! I couldn't imagine having the opportunity to go to Hawaii and not having poi and pineapple :)
Linda - hope you are well! I know things have to be crazy Had another binge last night - we hit the weights hard last night and I think my low-carb / calorie Sunday (since I pigged out on ice cream Saturday) caught up with me. Granola and some toast with Greek cream cheese...could have been worse but I think it kept me up half the night. Woke at 2am and didn't fall back to sleep until 4:30...I also couldn't stop thinking about *stuff* Still loving my Tbsp of Chia powder though! I haven't weighed in a week or so and won't be surprised to see an  # - but I certainly can't blame it on being backed-up ;) It's getting hard to get up and come in here in the mornings. :( Applying for 2 more positions today. |

Happy Friday friends :)
Oh - I forgot about Macadamia Nuts / Hawaii - mmmmm. I just recently bought a small jar to mix in with my almonds. So good! So, I have a phone call to make in an hour. I've put in for 3 jobs and got my first call back last night. We were running (shocker ;) ) so I let it drop to VM...I was a little surprised as I'd just applied for the position 4 hours before they called me. I really wasn't expecting to hear anything before Monday. Maybe thats a good sign... :crossed: Today is looking gorgeous across the DMV (and of course its cross-train / weights day :p ) definitely taking a lunch break walk...tomorrow sounds like we're going to need Noah's Ark :( ugh! We're only 2 weeks out from the 13.1, so won't be hitting the treadmill & putting off this weeks long run to Sunday - hopefully morning, but could be afternoon depending on how fast the weather pulls out. I also have to set an appointment Saturday for a color / cut & maybe some highlights. Next weekend is my nephews wedding (which I am not part of) and we'll be out of town / with family until Monday :) |
