How do you stay motivated?

  • Hi all,

Wondering what strategies you are using to stay motivated?
  • I have found I need goals - on P1, it was getting to a certain size - weight was secondary, but important too. Now in maintenance, I've found it would be really easy to slip back into old habits, but I discovered a love of running & it's easier at a healthy weight...also, I have to get into a size 8 bridesmaid dress July 16th mental games!
  • I try on clothes to see what fits.
On my race toward goal, I would reward myself at major weight milestones.
I post on the threads and read about other's successes.
Find new recipes and mix up my menu.
  • I constantly remind myself that if I eat... "pick whatever yummy, tantalizing thing you want," it'll taste good for 1 minute and then I will beat myself up about it for the few days it'll take to reverse the damage. Just not worth it.

Most diets, if you cheat you just start over the next day and continue to lose weight. On IP, if you cheat, you knock yourself out of ketosis and it can take days to rectify. I keep reminding myself about that!
  • I've only been on the program 5 days but know that the number one reason for me to stay motivated is the cost of the program :P
I am very frugal and just couldn't see myself spending the money each week on food and having it be wasted by not following protocol.
My # 2 reason is that I have an entire wardrobe of summer clothes that will fit me when I get about 20 pounds down and I won't have to go out and buy new clothes to get me through the summer (that is my frugalness showing again).
    Here's to another OP day!

  • I do IP alternatives so cost isn't really a factor for me as much. There's a quote I've seen...something along the lines of "being fat is hard, losing weight is hard, pick your hard." This works a lot for me since being fat sucks. I also give myself treats for making milestones..new clothes, piercings etc. Thinking of myself in my new bathing suit is also a big motivator since it's a bikini.
  • this might not apply for everyone but i like some instagram personas, facebook pages and blogs that i check everyday and this is what keeps me motivated, i see people who achieved what they wanted, i see people doing what i want to do, this keeps me thinking about my goals everyday in a good way and helps pushing forward
  • if I feel not motivated I just look at myself in the mirror
  • Quote: if I feel not motivated I just look at myself in the mirror
I hear ya SadWdyndy! But I'm trying to look at myself more positive. If I'm happier during the day, I don't think about food so much because I don't need it for a pick me up.

Right now my motivation is all of you, Facebook and Instagram. I love seeing other's success. I also have a bridesmaid dress to wear in September. We had to get it early, so it's already big on me, but if I get "too" small (unlikely ) and it can't be taken in properly, I'm just going to get another one. It will be my ultimate gift to myself. I've been told I'll need to do alterations by the end of July. The dress only took two weeks to come in so either way I should be good !!
  • I'm only two weeks in to my re-boot. The first week I had thoughts of "can I really do this again?" Now that I'm in a groove, I find that I need to check in here daily to read inspirational stories and to get new tips. Like Rinakim I have a closet of summer clothes I want to wear this year. If I stay OP I should be at goal by the end of June.
  • I weigh myself daily, it's not for everyone, but seeing that scale motivates me! Over half way there in just over 2 months!!
