What is your average Calorie intake each day?

I had done IP in the past and dropped close to 60. It was amazing, but when I started to log on a site that counted my calories it was only about 600-800 a day. One person on WW after that asked me how the heck was I able to function and walk and talk? I didn't know how to answer her, but I was just too happy with the loss.

Now do any of you track the calories? or just follow the protocol and never mind the calories?

Or, do some of you track and try to stay near the norm of 1000-1200 per day and 'top up' to reach near that so as to not 'starve' the body as some say.

I would be very very interested to see the response to this.

I used mypal to keep track of my macros for a long time but now that I don't have a good steady wifi I have slacked off of it. My average daily caloric intake was 950 for many months of IP but I know I have added a few now; maybe closer to the 1100 range. If you stick strictly to protocol your calories will vary daily depending on what your lean protein is and should range between 800 and 1000.

MY GOD WOMAN, look at your stats! congrats that is really amazing :carrot:

thanks for the input... how many ounces of meat do YOU aim for ?

I use MFP and I am around 800-900 on most days. If I go out to eat, I tend to be a bit higher simply because you have no idea what is in restaurant food.

The reason you are able to function is because you are in ketosis and your body is burning your excess fat for fuel. Your body believes that it is getting more calories than we are actually feeding it because it taking what it needs from your fat stores.

Unless you are very petite, you should have 8 oz of lean protein daily, per P1 protocol.

THANK YOU to everyone who responds and passes on these bits of info :)

being away from IP and protocol since 2012, things have changed and you also 'forget'.

Thanks! IP definitely has been the answer to several prayers! AFA as the meat question...I stick pretty close to the 8oz on Protocol, with an occasional extra boiled egg for the really bad "hungries".

My total calories average about 950 per day. Also, I am under 5'2", so I only eat 6 oz. of meat per day. If I get hungry, I will add 1 hard boiled egg :)

Frawnie,

I think you started IP around when I was in the middle or end before maintenance. Congratulations on your weight loss!!!!
