CenTx thank you for sharing that NSV. I'm very happy for you and your family. How incredible that they can share with you like that.

Sue great to hear about your weekend. I wonder also if your body is just reacting to stress and lack of restful sleep. At some level of your consciousness your body must be in stress mode.
My last job did an unexpected (and to be honest shocking and lacking care) layoff two days before Christmas, and then I had a few other big life changes at that time. My body really just stopped losing around that time. But I did maintain, and I think that was a huge win, given that usually during high stress my body holds onto weight (and if I stress eat, of course I would gain).

JJTx I have a friend who does a lot of thrift store shopping and I remember when she started finding me 6's and I thought "you're crazy" and they would fit. Also I wanted to get a shirt at Whole Foods and I started with XL and slowly made my way down the sizes until I got to XS. That was crazy.

Amanda hope your floors go well and thank you for keeping checking in here.

I am doing fine, the P1 reboot is coming along fine.:)

Hi Everybody,
I started IP in August and lost 20 lbs but spent a couple weeks travelling combining family vacation with a business trip and ended up putting 10 lbs back on. Now that summer is over and we are back into school routines getting back at it.

kimo88 09-09-2015 04:14 PM

Hello all! I originally started IP in November 2014 and I'm on day 2 of my reboot.

CenTxChk - That must have been quite a feeling to pull those old pants out!

Sue - I'm glad you motivated someone to start IP. You've done so well so I can see why they would be so motivated after seeing you! I wouldn't worry too much about the slight uptick, I'm sure it'll be gone in no time!

Kristin135 09-09-2015 10:15 PM

I'm still here. I'm struggling but I'm down seven pounds. I thought hormones were hard to balance before my hysterectomy, but now it's such a roller coaster. I need to stick with this because it calms down many of my health issues. Checking in here keeps me on track. It does appear that this will be a lifelong struggle for me.

Avalon1957 09-10-2015 01:45 AM

Slow progress, but progress still ...

I have GOT TO keep this weight off ... I dont think I could do this again. The slowness of losing the last 10 pounds (which took me almost 2 months to drop) -- is making me think I want to have a much tighter "allowable range" when I go into maintenance.

In the meantime, I want to keep dieting to try to get down to 190 at least -- I want to have some "headroom" in the healthy zone -- but who knows if my body will allow me to do that or not. I'll give it the old college try. At minimum, I want to hit wonderland and then maintain my weight in the 100's. But we all know the drill -- every day is a battle.

CenTxChk - wow on the pre-IP jeans, I can totally relate to that - although I'm glad I didn't keep any of my before clothes!

A friend gave me a bag full of clothes that are practically new, and most of it fit! One of the dresses was a size 6, I couldn't believe it fit! :D It's such a weird experience, I've never been able to "swap" clothes like that before. Her work is doing a charity clothing drive, so the items I'm not keeping will go to that, along with a few more items I've culled out of my closet from the spring that are too big. That makes me want to go back into my winter clothes bucket, I kept a few things last year but I bet they'll have to go now too.

:carrot::carrot: that is great...I can't wait to dig into my fall wardrobe and see what still fits.....

Thanks...yes I know stress is playing a huge roll in all of this...

Welcome back to those that have been MIA! Good to see you alll.....

Working this afternoon so that will keep my hands out of the cookie jar so to speak LOL....WI yesterday was the same....still up those few pounds from vacation that I can't shake. I have decided I really do not like that coach at all...please pray mine finds a home soon LOL...

Grateful4Health 09-10-2015 11:40 AM

Sue, I do hope your coach finds a way soon.

Welcome all the restarters to our 2014 home:)

Alexandra yes those last 10 to 20 are a bear, thank you for continuing to show us your statistics, and realizations, as that reminds me of my own. These last 10 are hard. I had a very hard day yesterday. Calmer today. The body just doesn't want to let go of its survival stores:)

Avalon1957 09-10-2015 03:21 PM

OMG Amber ... you are so right.

I read with great interest all the people struggling with their "end game" -- trying to learn something (anything) from everyone else's experiences. Trying to avoid their pitfalls and mistakes. So I am not alone with those feelings, I'm sure. It's a struggle for everybody.

It does seem like the early part of any diet is the easy part though. The losses are so rapid that one almost get motivation from the scale loss (it's almost exciting!) ... But when the losses slow to a crawl, it's so easy to lose ones edge. This is kind of a dangerous time for me in my journey.

I almost want to utter the mantra ... "The first 100 was a breeze" ... LOL. Well that's not really true either. It takes dedication and willpower throughout the journey ... and it's easy to fall off the wagon at any point. But for me at least, the slowness of the end game just seems torturous.

Maybe it's a testament to just how long I have been dieting and "watching it" (going on 13 months now) -- and a part of me is just sick of the whole thing. It's been 6 months since my last big cheat -- and all I've been thinking about lately is COOKIES! LOL

However the length of time I have needed to diet is my own fault -- I only have myself to blame. If I didn't let myself get so fat to begin with, I would not have to have been dieting for so long to get to a normal/healthy range. Now I am starting to feel like a whiner (please excuse that).

ShelbyLynn8 09-10-2015 05:32 PM

Its Been a long time since I've been on here or posted anything!!!

I restarted alternatives on Aug. 11th and I'm down 15lbs :)
I really hope this time around things go more smoothly with my health, and I don't have to quit. My BF is also doing it with me this time around but he is doing the Alternate Phase 1 for athletes. He's down 9lbs :)
I've been mixing old products with new products I've found and everything has seemed to be going very smoothly!! Hope the rest of the week goes well for all of us! :)

Avalon1957 09-11-2015 09:01 AM

Congrats on your successful restart ShelbyLynn! It's so much easier when your S.O. is doing it with you. Keep up the great work. What happened with your health that forced you to quit previously (just curious).

JJTx 09-11-2015 10:29 AM

TGIF y'all! :)

Welcome back Kira and ShelbyLynn!!! :grouphug:
Good to see you back and working on reboots, hope your week's going well.

Alexandra - you're not a whiner, you're a winner! :D
You inspire me and how hard you're working, day in and day out - your charts don't lie, you are a success story - hands down!

I have had a helluva week, lots of stress, not enough sleep - yesterday I snacked too much and felt gross :p (plus TOM on top of all isn't helping). Letting my body "relax" with a P1 day today, and might roll that over to tomorrow depending on how I'm feeling. Busy weekend ahead and first part of next week, so I may not post much but I will read when I can - please know I am rooting all of you on even when I don't have time to login!!

I had a bad UC flare that lasted for awhile, my doctor recommended me to stop till I healed up 😊

SL, Sorry to hear that. I have heard that can be really painful.

JJTx, your words are so heartfelt. And i always felt like it was you that inspired me!

I have a really quiet weekend and no excuse for needing extra food so I'm making a commitment to you for the next three days to only strict IP. I would love to use the weekend for R&R and drop down a few lbs in the process. I don't want this reboot to go on forever because I keep adding things:)

Still fascinated by this answer by Briael. Sounds to me like what Briael is saying is ... if we can lose enough fat and hydrate well and give ourselves enough time, loose skin can improve on its own.

On another front, I finally hit ONEDERLAND this morning -- after over a year of effort and dedication! 199.75 !!! Gosh it feels great to be down at this level!

So I took this opportunity to move my official target from 200 down to 190 in my signature block to the left. I might eventually move my target down to 185 or 180, but I will see how it goes getting to 190.

Woot ..... she's a Onedergirl, Onedergirl. Congrats Alexandra, that is such awesome news. :)

I remember reading an article by a plastic surgeon, on the subject of loose skin and how it is always lined by a thin layer of fat cells. As women this is pretty much the last fat stronghold, because our bodies are designed to keep fat for fertility. He said that hydration and reducing the body fat percentage was the key, but many women preferred to have lipo and surgery rather than wait it out and let the body do its thing. I'm going back quite a few years now, 2010 from memory, but for some reason it stayed with me. :)

Thank you so much Briael!!

And thank you so much for sharing all the great info you have shared over the past year (I have learned a lot from you!)

On the fat layer thing. Do you have any notion/concept on how thin is "a thin layer of fat cells" actually is? Are we talking a few millimeters or something up to 1/2 an inch or so? I always think of a skin layer as being a very thin thing and when I grab my "roll" around my waistline (which would actually be a double layer when you pinch it), it's around an inch in total thickness ... so that would mean my skin + fat layer is about 1/2" in thickness. Most of that has to be fat, right? So I am guessing I have about 1/2" of fat stuck to the underside of my skin around my waistline. That's got to weigh at least 5 to 10 pounds. If it was just loose skin, the pinched thickness would be a lot less. So what you are saying makes empirical sense -- just based on visual/physical evidence on my own body.

Alexandra ~ Welcome to Onederland!! :bravo::bravo::welcome3: Its a magical place and I am so happy for you! Congrats Again...

Me I am struggling along. I had a really good day yesterday and blew it with a boredom pack in the late afternoon...I wasn't really even hungry but really more bored...Todays goal is to keep busy! I have sheets and blankets to wash and remake the beds. Promised the boys some french toast for breakfast, but amazingly that does not bother me. I need a Costco run today for this weeks staples (cucumbers, tomato and peppers) so I will do that after lunch. Gotta get back on track and get this last few pounds off....

Shelby good to see you back! I wish you much success and glad your feeling better..

Avalon1957 09-13-2015 08:12 AM

Thank you SG!

Yes, I hear you on boredom eating -- I can relate.

hysteria_625 09-13-2015 01:14 PM

:congrat: Alexandra!!!!

Sgrealtor1 09-14-2015 06:45 AM

Made it thru the weekend LOL...Did pretty good yesterday as far as keeping busy and out of the kitchen. Did have some cooked onions off the pork roast last night, but onions are better than binge eating snacks LOL..so I will take it as a win.

My goal by months end is to get back to the weight in my stats....Sigh!:(

Heading off to the office this morning so I think I will make some muffins to bring with me for breakfast...I will do a late lunch when I get home around 1:30 because DH works till 7 tonight so later dinner than usual....

Have a good day everyone..

Rayze 09-14-2015 07:44 AM

Congrats Alexandra!!!!!!

As for me...ugh. Glad to be back on the forum. One sign I'm out of control (besides being out of control) is I avoid 3FC. Well, I'm back, but done have the guts to weigh myself. I am focused on one meal at a time today. Time to get back on plan. More later.

Hope you all have a great day!

Avalon1957 09-14-2015 09:26 AM

Hysteria/Beth, Thank you for your supporting words!

SG and Rayze, I am rooting for you! Dieting is hard. Just got to keep plugging away at it every day.

Grateful4Health 09-14-2015 11:31 AM

Alexandra, congratulations. Sometimes small things - .25:) - can have a big effect on our lives.

I just did a little post on the Maintainers thread about a documentary I saw with some weight statistics - here's the link if you're interested
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/5202152-post152.html

Ro22 09-14-2015 01:54 PM

Hello All...thanks for your support. Good news/bad news scenario for me.
First, the bad news...I had an MRI and it shows 2 new herniations - one at L2-L3 (which I have never injured before) and one at L3-L4 (which I previously had surgery on).
Good news is the medication got it to settle down and that we are going to try and treat them conservatively rather than immediate surgery. I believe that part of the contributing factor is not working out for more than a year when you factor in my lifestyle (active, golf) and previous back injuries/surgeries. As a result, I started working out today. We'll see how the back responds. I can't express how good it felt to get in a workout after 13 months away from the gym!!!!

More good news...
Today starts the beginning of Month 2 on the reboot for me. I lost a total of 24.1 pounds in Month 1. Week 1 = -14.1, Week 2 = -4, Week 3 = -1 and Week 4 = -5. I am SO happy because Week 3 is when I was on the steroids and had trouble with Week 3 in my previous reboot attempts and so never made it to week 4 so I am so happy to know that week 3 results this year were simply an adjustment period after losing so much in weeks 1 and 2. I feel so good for this to be predictable, which to me is another indicator of good health.

I mentioned to you guys before that I feel so mentally strong and that is still the case. In fact, I think I am more so because of seeing the results of week 4 and the total for the month and getting the workout in and overcoming this back injury.

It feels so good to report good news!
Not to get too far ahead of myself but if I lose like I did the first time, that means that I need about 12 weeks to get to goal so I think I will be in maintenance by Christmas or early Jan. It could even be faster to get to goal! I am relieved that the alternatives are working as I was wondering if that was contributing to my week 3 poor results this year. But, I now realize that I just wasn't patient enough and being fearful that it was a sign I was going to slip back into the health issues I had earlier this year.

Now for all your good news...
Sue - glad to hear you got back on track! You will get there - I admire your determination in spite of a few hiccups :)

Avalon - Congrats on onederland!!!!

CenTXChk - I know this is a delayed response but how about a Combat bar (I recommend the peanut butter cup/crunch one) - my brother who is a carpet installer said this really made the difference for him to be able to work when he is dieting. Some GNC's/Vitamin Shoppe's carry them but your best bet is to order from Amazon, I think.

Amber - Congrats on the success on the mini-reboot!

Amanda - I hope your reboot is progressing well! Sorry if I missed it as I had about 10 days of catching up to do.

JJ - Glad to see your posts as well as the other maintainers still here posting in this thread. I use you guys as motivation for me to get to a successful maintenance program, once and for all!

DeterminedDieter 09-14-2015 03:21 PM

Hi all, it's been awhile. Things have been busy. Today is day one of a reboot to get off 10 up lbs and maybe lose an extra 20 past my original goal, we'll see though as I will focus more on my bfp. I'm a bit hungry now at just about quitting time, but not too bad. I'll just make my dinner when I get home and have my snack in the evening, which is just how I like it.

I just hope the sudden reduction of carbs doesn't trigger a 3 day migraine like my first go round!

Coaching has been going ok I think. I'm a little shy to chaste people for cheating, or at least remind them of the benefits of no cheating.

I feel bad when I measure because I know that it's different from the old coach.

Congrats on reaching onderland Avalon, I know it seemed to take forever to get there at the end.

Wishing everyone the necessary willpower to stay strong and OP :) And for those with injuries, wishing you speedy recoveries. It's great to read of everyone still trucking along!

You are an awesome bunch :)

DeterminedDieter 09-14-2015 03:24 PM

Ro, great results on your reboot!! Sorry about your back, I hope it doesn't come to surgery

Avalon1957 09-15-2015 03:13 AM

JJTx, thank you so much!

Amber, yes so true that sometimes we get hung up on the tiniest of things!

Ro22, it's really great to get into the ones. On your back issues, any weight loss you can muster can only help, so keep it up. I hope you get some relief soon.

Sgrealtor1 09-15-2015 06:36 AM

Good Morning Everyone..

Day 2 in the books of my strict re boot...so far so good...spent a lot of time drinking fluids (water, mio orange/vanilla. Pelligrino..) LOL had to keep changing it up so I wasn't bored....Also pushing my lunch later helped with the afternoon hungries. Did good and the scale showed....Now to keep it up..Only 3Lbs to reflect my stats LOL....

Glad to see so many people back at it...thread was slow this summer...and I agree when I am off I avoid 3FC ... but facing the music and rebooting has put me in a great mood again. I can face down these last few pounds!

DeterminedDieter 09-15-2015 07:43 AM

WTG Sue! The daily accountability of posting here certainly does help. I made it through day 1 of my reboot OP, and feeling good about it. Just finished breakfast of day 2 and still feeling a bit hungry, but will keep drinking my water, and if necessary snack on some cukes before lunch.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Grateful4Health 09-15-2015 12:33 PM

Yay Sue and DD.
I have gotten sloppy with extra packets on my reboot due to heavy TOM and stressful week, but am making a decision to be OK with that this week as long as I don't gain, and then go strict next week, so I'll joining you on the strict train on Monday:). I can tell I'm still in ketosis so I'll keep trucking through the next few days on my slow sloppy train until then:)

CenTXChk 09-15-2015 03:55 PM

Hello Ladies!

Avalon – WTG on Onderland!! You are so amazing! I am so proud of you for hitting such a milestone!! :woohoo: :carrot::D

Sue, G4H and others struggling with extra packets and food – We all have been there! You can do this. Some days of our lives (or even hours) are harder than others to stay 100% OP. We all have been there but I have faith you can get back on the wagon!

Ro – Sorry again about your back. I hope the exercising helps. Surgery would be no fun! And thanks for snack suggestion. I am going to look it up. Afternoons are still a struggle but at least now I know what is….no longer beating myself up for “being weak” but rather focusing on being prepared.

So positive and not so positive moments recently…

Positive, I had a decent food weekend and finally started the week out under my scream weight….that may be a first in some time! Been eating more of a modified P3 yesterday and today. Hoping to tame the big weight swings while staying full.

Now the not so positive….it’s really not that bad but the perfectionist in me needs to stop beating myself up. Went to the gym last night and got weighed on their bio-scale. Very similar to my IP clinic’s scale. Well, after all summer of working out with a trainer my weight was down a couple pounds but my BF% and fat mass numbers were up. :?: This after a tough work out and then to see my numbers haven’t improved since I started going to him was VERY disheartening. I know I am leaner and more toned. I feel and look good. But, in the moment, those darn numbers had me near tears. He started asking me about what I’ve been eating and I kinda got mad. I mean, know I am eating a better diet than the majority of his clients….probably even him!

Just last week my coach was saying how perfect my numbers were…irritated at myself for letting a stupid scale make me feel like a failure. :( Grrr.

This Fri is my plastic surgeon appnt. MY DH can’t come with me so my BF is coming to the DR with me for moral support. Will post an update with what I learn!

Grateful4Health 09-15-2015 04:41 PM

CenTX if you've never gotten on that scale before I really wouldn't put too much emphasis on it. Maybe next time - after you have a base point. Who knows when they have last calibrated it or how it compares to the clinic.
What's important is how you feel, and if your clinic has you in a healthy range, then that's the end of the story.

CenTXChk 09-15-2015 06:25 PM

Thanks Amber! It is actually the third time I got on this scale but the numbers seem to get worse every time I step on it. I told my trainer that I wouldn't be getting on it again. It messes with my mind.

Heck, I can just bring my slip in from my IP WI. It has the same info on it and I trust that data a whole lot more!

hysteria_625 09-15-2015 07:39 PM

CenTX - conspiracy theorist here...any thought they may have that scale rigged to induce more potential clients to join / do personal training?

Keep going, Sue!!!

Have you tried any alternatives including baking or anything to get a change of pace in the food/packets as well? Maybe you are bored of the IP stuff too.
I love the Quest Protein powders and rotate the flavors of Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Vanilla (will add different extracts to this for different flavors), Banana Cream and Salted Caramel for Cookies, Muffins and Breads. The recipe is so simple and I make a batch of 10 in about 20 minutes including bake time and clean-up. With being on the go with your realtor job, taking baked goods would be convenient for you too. Something to think about...

CenTxChk, thank you! So much support here. Amazingly, I have managed to push down a full pound under 200 already ... just 3 days after breaking 200. I will take all the headroom I can get.

Sgrealtor1 09-16-2015 06:33 AM

Ro - Definatly bored of IP stuff even with my swaps...but using the alternates I feel very bloated and put some weight on....Just need to get my head back in that place again....Day 3 in the books.... WI tomorrow...

Forgot what everyone else said LOL....So sorry...I am kind of rushing this morning ...big report due for a client and it would not submit last night and then I lost 1/2 the data....Ugh.. Have to redo this morning before I hit the road.

Managed 3 Strict days in a row....yesterday afternoon was hard, so I ate some cucumber slices and amped up my water intake...I did make it thru...

Good news for me on a clinic front...my old coach is very close to opening her own place and it is actually closer to my house! Yeah....I need her! Even thought I have been in contact it is not the same as reporting in every week...
