Good morning Maintainers!
I got my shot yesterday. Although pain relief takes several weeks, I'm glad I got it before my vacay. I'm also on prescription anti-inflammatories. I am now up 6 .lbs. Some of it may be inflammation, but I think most of it is SUGAR :devil::devil:. I seem to loose my mind when it comes to cupcakes/ice cream, etc. I avoided all that stuff for 9 months when on P1 and it was at work ALL THE TIME. Now every time I walk in the kitchen there is something tempting in there. I know better, now I just have to do better. I've been having a pity party for myself in that I keep thinking that I can't be on a diet for the rest of my life. But that's stinking thinking and I have to get back on course. I can have the occasional treat, but I've been overdoing it and I know it. :^: So I am now on P1. I leave on Thursday of next week so I'll P1 for the next 5 days and see what happens. I should have done this sooner. I kept thinking it would just drop like it always has before. I know I'll have to P1 when I get back too. I'll just have to be a bit more careful than I was planning. I will still have a few things that I wanted to try that I can only get in New York. I was never intending to go all out crazy, but now it will be half a bagel with cream cheese or half a pastrami sandwich from Katz's deli and I'm totally rethinking the Cronut. |
Hi everyone, August is a little bit of a non-online month for me for various reasons, but checking in from time to time still and reading but not responding too much....
Just posted this on 2014 thread but wanted to duplicate here: Quick question - does anyone have a really great Omega Oil to recommend? That they have found genuinely has a good effect when taken and (if I'm lucky) doesn't cause an aftertaste? I am out of mine and wanting to order some online. |

Thanks guys for the oil info -
Andrea I'm in a very similar situation - several trips and family visits the last few months and then two more fun long weekends coming. For me my food has been OK, but adding wine here and there, and usually when I do that I'm at a restaurant with what I'm sure is hidden salt/sugars - not a lot of this but for me it causes 1 or 2 up lbs but the problem is they don't come back off - so now after doing that several times I'm up about 10 lbs over my usual and 5 lbs over scream - a few times I've come back down but then up again. I have a call with my doctor & coach today because I wanted to talk to them about doing P1 because I can really feel the bloat. However I don't want to be on P1 when I'm on my trips, it just doesn't feel right. So like you, I'm going to be more careful overall and make sure I get some movement in (still nursing a pulled muscle) and then go on a stricter P1 (or modified for blood sugar) some time around labor day. OK - good to know I'm with you.... |
Happy Friday Maintainers!
I heard about this study on the radio this morning. Food for thought. Pun intended. :D http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/...fat-study-says Woohoo! 5 days on P1 and down 4.7. I know about 3 of that is glycogen stores but still. It makes me feel better. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. What I'm concerned about is jumping from P1 to P4. Maybe I should P2 for Monday & Tuesday & P3 for Wednesday to ease back in since I'm leaving Thursday morning.Any advice? |
i'd do p2 M-W then on to p4 maint. and you are a go. Have fun.

And, I hope you have a really great trip! I just got back from the mountains, it was really great, but continuing to go up a lb a week or so instead of down. I talked to my coach before I left last week and then again this morning, I am going to go see her this afternoon, do a WI and measurements, have a chat, and do P1 for a little bit until the up lbs come off. I know it's likely going to be hard but the mental stress and physical up lbs are worse. I will be gone again next week for a little bit but I'm just spending time with my niece and nephew at the pool mostly, and they could care less what I eat and they certainly don't drink, so it won't be too hard. Wish me luck, I'm actually pretty nervous today as I'm not sure how my body will react with going into ketosis, but I scheduled my week and weekend really light just in case. |
Happy Monday Maintainers!
Thanks Liana! I'm doing P2 now. Amber: Hang in there. I know you can do this. We both can. |
Hello Maintainers,
I'm glad to see some familiar faces here!!!! I hope you all are having a splendid summer!!! I've been working really hard at work and also on a rental house we bought, plus having some fun and camping in Idaho. Here is an update on my maintenance in case it is helpful for anyone else: I have very slowly been gaining weight (now 5 pounds heavier), even though my calories were set to the bottom of what I should be able to eat according to various calculators. So, I am setting my calorie intake lower than that. I've been working with my ND on my thyroid meds. I now take synthroid and cytomel, and take medication twice a day. Hopefully this will help to some degree with my calorie burn. At least I am not cold anymore! And now I even sweat every once in a while!! I feel really good right now. I'm still processing the fact that I will not be able to eat an average amount of calories, and have to pay a great deal of attention to my calorie intake forever. It is definitely a bummer. It is more of a bummer to be overweight though. Hopefully with the lower intake, the scale will move down a bit, or at least stabilize. It is a grand experiment. Enjoy the rest of summer!!! |

I'm on P1 to get the up weight down, which though I'm a bit grumpy about it I know will make me feel better, but then after that the continuing work of keeping the weight in the right zone. |
Grateful,
Best wishes with P1!!! I cannot bring myself to go back on P1, so I am rooting for you!!! I am also carb sensitive. I still target 50% fat/ 30% carb/ 20% protein in my macros. I am not going to adjust my macros right now since it may be too many variables to change at once. I'm just seeing what the medication change and the calorie reduction do first. |
Thanks for the update murrcat. It's interesting that we all seem to be struggling with the same thing. I'm sitting at 180 now, doing very low carb, eating a 600 calorie deficit each day, but no movement.
I wonder if summer really makes you hold onto that fluff, or if I'm just broken. I don't get it! |
Andrea: I was on my tablet for my comment about P2,3,4 and couldn't get it to do what I wanted. I hate the apps! Gimme a good old desktop that shows me everything I want. Anyhow, I ended up just sticking my comment in as a title, lol. I just figure P1 is too expensive and P2 makes it easier to live a day-to-day life. And it still works. (and as you know, I'm not a big breakfast person, lol)
Hi murrcat! good to see you again. Helloooo, Amber & posh! My nemesis this past week has been SmartFood White Cheddar popcorn while on patrol. The whole big bag - and Crispy Minis S&V flavour. Craving saltiness but darnit I just got my period - hadn't had one for 3 months and was hoping.... but it caught me by surprise. Anyhow, still losing, albeit very slowly thanks to waaaay too many carbs. Liana |
Murrcat- great to hear from you. I hope your thyroid issues get sorted out and you can up your calories a bit.
Andrea-great work on P1. Are you heading to NYC for holiday? Amber - how was the mountains? Did your meeting with IP coach go well? Liana - popcorn, along with peanut butter is another trigger food. Love smart food and I can't stop when I start. I found the powdered nuts have helped with PB addiction but don't know what can replace popcorn? Pishposh, hang in there it will come off. It sounds like many of us are in the same boat. I'm enjoying my cauliflower rice and trying to make better choices. I find that it is harder to get the up lbs off but trying to be patient and resist throwing out the scale. Still working on 3lbs, but inches are looking good. |
