Good Morningt IPeeps! I'm on week 2 and feeling great. Really good mood, sleeping well, and not too hungry. Much better than last week, I was really ready to quit last week (pitiful I know)!

I had my first weigh in yesterday, I lost 5 lbs. 3 of which my coach says is probably water weight. I've decided to only do Phase 1 for seven weeks, then phase off and be in maintenance by Aug 30. The reason behind this is that I've lost 40 lbs with IP two times before, and gained all the weight back, due to diet fatigue. I didn't phase off, just quit where I was and went straight back to old habits. Now I have all that weight to lose again, plus 20 lbs more. I need to change my attitude and my life, instead of using IP as a quick fix. I want to maintain a smaller weight loss for a year or so and then maybe go on IP again next summer. Another thing I'm going to do differently this time around is that I'm not going to weigh myself every morning as it really seems to make or break my spirit, and I'd rather not know than feel discouraged all day/week.

Had someone already ask me what I'm going differently this morning. I was absolutely shocked. She said the weight must have all come off my back because from behind I look like I've lost 20!! I think she was being a little generous but it certainly made my day.

Hope you are all having a good day. Thanks for being my daily motivation.

Hi there. See your Phase One sheet for this. My coach told me that I cannot specifically cook onions as they caramelize. Veggies listed have to be measured before cooking.

As for recipes, check out many of the recipe threads on the boards here.

Also - if you are looking for good dressings for your lettuce - definitely try out a few of the Walden Farms dressings. Or make your own. Lots of recipes can be found on these boards within the recipes threads.

Cheers and good luck!

Do you have your phase 1 sheet? It lists all the veggies you can have, and all the spices you can use.

Yes, you can use green cabbage.

Where it says "unlimited raw vegetables/lettuce," that means you can have as much of what is listed as you want, as long as it is raw.

Where it says "Select" or "Occasional Vegtables," you may only have as much as is listed (2 cups for Select or 2 cups for Occasional). For example, raw spinach is unlimited, but it is limited to 2 C at a time if you cook it, as is listed under select.

Seasonings are not restricted as long as they have no added sugar or other carbohydrates. You can use fresh herbs, dried herbs, pepper, paprika, taco seasoning mix (there is recipe for a homemade version with no carbs), or any other spices you like to enhance your dinners.

As someone stated, you can use the Walden Farms dressings or make your own if you can't stand those. Use your 2 tsp oil requirement and mix it with vinegar, herbs, garlic, salt, pepper, etc to make a dressing you like.

Meat can be baked, broiled, grilled, browned in a pan, or any other way you can think to cook it that doesn't involve large quantities of oil or breading made with carbs. You can crush up IP or alternative chips to bread them, but you might want to get comfortable with the basics before going there.

Veggies can be eaten raw or cooked almost any way you would like to. Saute, roast, throw in the crock pot, grill, etc.

You can cook your veggies but if they're listed under unlimited, they must be consumed raw to be unlimited. Interesting, you'll find after time that you actually CAN eat lettuce raw with nothing on it. I used to take a bag of romaine lettuce leaves to much on in the afternoons if I got hungry. They took the place of chips or other snacks I used to eat.

You can use green cabbage raw or cooked. I don't boil greens (you could). I usually gently sautee them. As far as cabbage, a great way to make it is to slice into "steaks" and roast.

I season with a variety of things, including garlic powder, pepper, and salt.
I found that I need MORE seasoning since the food is not as flavorful. Use your herbs and spices freely. Make sure you read labels of any spice blends, however, to look for added sugars on the label. It is important to know all the different names for sugar.

Get a misto to spray items with olive oil. It is a good way to use oil, without using too much.

Are you doing this program alone or do you have a coach? You are paying your coach a LOT of money to answer questions for you. Make sure to utilize if you have one. But continue to feel free to ask questions here, as well.

Tara - you can do it! I empathize with the hubby issue though - mine has been super supportive (for once) but IP is not IN his mind set, if you kwim - he got family pack tickets to a baseball game for Father's Day which includes a hotdog and chips lol I just kind of looked at him and he said "well, I thought you could eat the hot dog". :) I love him <3

GD - WOW! Terrific WI & NSV :D congrats! :cheer:

Shark - your plan sounds good - I'll be watching with interest as I've been watching the loose skin start to pile up (not expecting miracles with the tummy but the bat wings under the arms are bothersome) and I'm getting itchy to do a program like Insanity again...I know you'll keep us posted :) & another :broc: for a great loss this week :D

Wondering which way to go right now...
- so it looks like I've hit a true slow patch - only a pound lost in the last 14 days (and really, I've been bouncing between 182.0 - 183.8). I've really amped up walking the last 2 weeks so now I am wondering is it my body holding onto as much as it can (starvation mode?)...I'm not doing anything ridiculously strenuous - trying to hit 15 minute miles / 2 miles / 30 minutes.
Per MFP I am averaging 970 k/cal (give or take)
It's crossed my mind too that it might be the AS in the WF products :( I already have my lunches set up through Thursday...and just made some rhubarb compote I'd like to finish...but I guess if I don't see any movement come Friday, that will be the first thing I lay off of as it's a major ingredient in both the compote and the pork tenderloin.
Could be stress too...but I've been through worse (in April) without a slow down like this.
I have:
- upped water intake
- made sure to measure portions

It would really suck if I have an intolerance to the syrups :( I'll survive but *sniff*

So in January 2013, when I'd been tooling right along, I discovered thyroid probs (which I hadn't had prior to IP) and we cut soy protein & gluten containing products.

I had quite the hissy fit over my crunchy-salty IP snacks, oatmeal, and soups. But, you're right. You'll survive no matter what happens.

Already have the soy sensitivity so... :dizzy:

I know I handle the syrups fine in moderation - might just be too much with all the new foods - idk, we'll see...and I left out that I've been stopped up for a couple days. Taking my Natural Calm, upped the water...I'll clear out soon :)

Me too! I easily surpass the water requirement. I believe the extra thirst comes from ketosis. I also add some liquid chlorophyll to a few glasses which gives it a bit of a spearmint taste. My coach recommended chlorophyll because it has tons of health benefits.

I have not heard about chlorophyll. I will have to try that! Thanks. I'm glad I'm not the only thirsty person. :broc:
