I've been reading through some of your threads today and am interested in the structure of the IP diet. I think that being able to use packaged foods will help me stick with the plan since I am not much of a planner. I want to lose 70-100#, not sure exactly where I want to end up.

I have a couple of questions...
  1. Is there a way to get the IP products without visiting a clinic?
  2. Has anyone combined Lyle McDonald's Rapid Fat Loss (RFL) plan with IP? The RFL plan works with similar macros to IP but recommends a free evening meal 2x week to allow you to socialize a bit easier and keep your metabolism guessing. I believe the "free meal" is supposed to still be comprised of a certain amount of protein and veg but may include extra fat or even alcohol or carbohydrates (although I'd probably still try to stay ketogenic with my free meal). I think this may help me stick with the diet since 70-100# will be a lengthy process and I do not want to become a hermit in that time! I also know from experience that a "cheat" meal can sometimes derail me, so I am thinking a little planned flexibility built in may help me in the long run.

Thanks!

Welcome, slimming2. I know that you can buy IP products through eBay and of course there are tons and tons of alternatives that you can buy without going through the clinic that are similar, cheaper, and sometimes tastier!

I'm trying to decide when to quit P1. I'm having a hard time because my original goal weight was 140, I'm 5'5.5". I'm 160 now and feel lean and I'm happy with the way I look so I figured I'd readjust my goal to be 150. The 150 would get me into a healthier body fat range -- in the low 30%s. I'm only carrying weight in my abdominal area - limbs and butt are about as thin as I think they can get.

I"m worried that transitioning will cause some 'fluffiness' and I should go to 145 to accommodate for that. Any thoughts -- will exercise and toning up help keep that lean feeling for those of you that have transitioned?
