Unless you really feel the need to have a protein shake (you know the signs of not enough blood sugar?), now that you are in maintenance you shouldn't really need to restock since your diet isn't VLC anymore. That is, unless you are doing heavy exercise, but regular normal won't need those extra nutrients. If you are lifting heavy, or doing long bouts of HIIT or cardio (a couple hours) you likely may need to keep it in. When we exercised regularly in our previous ('before fat' life, lol) most people never needed to eat after, they just went about their regular day. If you find later you are hungry, then have a little something (perhaps half a shake or some almonds, or half an avocado ;)) Eat when you are hungry, and not because of a certain event or time. That way we get to understand our bodies' cues to tell us what we really need. Give your body time to recomp with the exercise... you will be keeping a bit of weight (NOT FAT) due to slight muscle inflammation while your body repairs from the muscle work. Look at the inches now and less of the scale pounds... :jig::jig::jig: Keep on rockin' gals.... I am working the Fireworks extravaganza tonight at the July 1 Canada Day Festival. Keeping drunks (and other excited children, hahaha) under control. 7 hours on my feet! Liana |
Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadian Ipers
Liana- how was the July 1st festival? I hope to catch the fireworks from bedroom window tonight. Too late for the kids to be out watching. Bootros - I do a few almonds, Greek yog, or a whey based shake after I workout. I go at it pretty hard, either running over 10km or 5km plus weights, and then I swim and cycle. If I don't plan the snack I will just add in not so good choices plus adding in the good helps muscles repair and gets you ready for your next workout. Merci - you are doing great keep up the good work. Andreabmva- I never had the meal replacements. I can appreciate where they would be handy. I'm up 2-3 lbs fairly consistently and need to re focus and work harder to get them off. I think I need to recommit to writing down food and using MFP. Hi to everyone. |
Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting on here. I went on maintenance at the beginning of June. I recently took a trip home and to Florida to visit my brother. I had like 4 splurge days. Jumped right back on the P1 wagon on Monday. After 3 days of P1, I am back within my pre-vacation weight. My question is what now? Do I do a mini phase 2 and 3? Or do I jump right back into maintenance? Has anyone ever gone through a similar experience? Thanks!!!! |

Nope, just go back to maintenance... the P2/3 was to get your body used to more food/calories than the Very Low Calorie P1 level. Since your body is now used to the maintenance food level, there's no need for those other levels. Just be careful that the idea of splurge/cheat days doesn't get out of control ;). It is pretty easy to give ourselves a bit too much slack since we've made our goal, and go back to old habits. Liana |
Alas, this thread has passed the magic limit of 500 posts.
Would some kind soul start Vol 19? |
