Default What is your Favorite Kitchen Gadget or Tool that has Helped you stay on Plan

Over the course of my journey on IP....I found that having some special kitchen gadgets helped me immensely to prep and keep myself on plan!

here are a few of mine!

Freezer Containers...that can go from the freezer, to the fridge to thaw, to the microwave to reheat!! I can make up extra veggies when they are in season and at a lower price.

these small 4 ounce glass jars with lids...i can pack away veggies, gelatin, puddings, in a perfect to go container.

citrus zester for making small curly lemon peels for recipes....like shrimp!!

a microplane for a finer zest

my magic bullet....i use it every single day!!

a good dutch oven!!

a good cutting board!! just for my veggies!

a cooking rack that i use when baking...especially ip cookies or muffins
as it helps them brown on the underside

mini muffin pan

muffin top pan...works perfectly for ip cookies!

of course a great crock pot!

non stick silicone pad

skewers....i love meat on skewers!!

a spiral slicer! for Zoodles!

my lovely grater!! perfect for making riced cauliflower!!

a travel kit!

What are some of YOUR favorite things to use??

Love my crockpot -- my pork roast with turnips dinner tonite was a crockpot favorite that I could have every week for the rest of my life! I also use it to make bone broth from the leavings of my rotisserie chickens - they are on special at the grocery store every Friday, so when I get 3 or 4 carcasses stored in the freezer, I put em all in the crockpot and let them cook on low for about 24 hours. Then I have great broth to jazz up the IP soups as lunch items.

I have a spiral tool for making zoodles... mine is an hour-shaped tool the you stick the zuke into and turn like you would do with an old time manual (not mechanical) pencil sharpener.

I also have a divided plate -- three sections, 2 one cup section, perfect for veggies, and a nicely sized space for my real protein food item... I weigh the meat, fish or poultry with a small food scale.

My food scale works fine but it is not digital -- I think I may get a new one that is digital - there are a number of good choices out there these days... scales that look like iPADs... hmm I wonder if there is an app that makes a tablet function like a food scale....???

I think these are the items most contributing to my staying on program... these together with some killer recipes from Rainbowsmiles!!!

Just getting started but this is a great list! I went tonight and purchased a new salt grinder. Highly recommend a digital scale! I also love my Ninja (blender) - made a broccoli / mushroom puree tonight that was amazing! The other item I could not live without is my grill. We do everything on the grill - mmmm grilled peppers and chicken sounds good for Friday night.

Oh my...too many to list.
Cooking has become a way of life in the past 2+ years.
I have friends who comment how much I "cook from scratch"

What makes it easier? These four items are easily the most used kitchen gadgets in my house:
Crockpot
Vitamix
immersion blender
magic bullet
Flexible cutting mat
eta: Sodastream

Things I use less frequently but keep meaning to use more
mandoline
Cuisinart food processor
dehydrator
Kitchenaid stand mixer

As soon as I hit "submit" I'll think of the rest..

I love my ScanPan - it is a nonstick pan that sears. I think it's a ceramic type non stick that doesn't have the chemical problems the old teflon did.

I also love my mandoline -- great for slicing things super thin.

I love my Ninja blender, but I am really an old fashioned girl, so my cast iron skillet is still my favorite pan!

Such great ideas.
I use everyday:
blender
digital food scale
measuring cups and spoons
lunch tote

Want to get me one of those zoodle gadgets. Looks like fun.
Need a pill box labeled with days broken down by morning noon and night. to better help me keep up with taking my supplements.
