Leftover meat..
Before IP, I was the guy who made sandwiches out of the leftover meat from the night before. Because we very what we have each night, sometimes that meat goes to waste.
I was wondering if I could substitute X number of grams of meat for one protein pouch.. is that possible ? Thanks ian. |
when I cook meat, I always cook more than one serving. I use leftovers as the protein for another meal (or two). Or, I toss a couple of ounces on a salad for lunch and have less than 8 oz at dinner.

I ALWAYS make extra meat. It's just dinner for another night.

Instead of making sandwiches, on IP you can make lettuce wraps and fix em up like thai food by using a Walden farms marmalade melted into or mixed with a bit of soy sauce and hot sauce and adding slivered peppers, cabbage, green onion, etc. Tasty and works great with beef, pork, or chicken.
It's always easier to cook a batch at once anyhow, then you don't have to cook on a really busy day, just pull it out and nuke it. Liana |
thanks...
Sorry, I should have said I used to make sandwiches...that was before IP.. That lettuce wrap is making me hungry and In just ate ! Can I have that lettuce sandwich for lunch with 3 ounces or so of meat vs a protein pack ? thanks ian |

You still need to make sure you get in all the protein packs every day along with your salt, vitamins and supplements. Whatever amount of meat you have at lunch, simply subtract that amount from the 8 oz. allotment for dinner. So if you put 3 oz. of beef in lettuce wraps at lunch, then you get to have 5 oz. of meat for dinner, since on Phase 1 you are to have 8 oz. of meat. You can break that up into lunch and dinner if you want. But are you trying to substitute animal protein for the protein packs to try to save $$? The bioavailability of animal protein can't compare with that of the protein packs.
In other words, you won't be getting enough protein. |
You shouldn't replace the protein pack with straight meat. There is more to a pack then just protein. I'm going to guess the meat may be higher in fat and calories too. The pack's protein might be more easily absorbable by the body too but that thought is just a guess.

Ok...I was running under a incorrect thought that there was a substitute from meats / packet like there is for eggs / packet.
Thank you for setting me straight. I think I am very close to jumping out on my own.. Ian :) |
