The beauty of this program is just that. We know what we have to do and it can be done and will be done!!! Success

Coreyle, congrats for taking control before you got further down that tricky road. Knowing when to say "enough is enough" is half the battle. Tight clothes that once fit well is a yucky feeling, and that's what got me back here for reboot. Good luck and we're all in this together!!

Hi all. I'm new here. I'm on day 11 of my first IP journey. Looking forward to losing weight and getting healthy. I have 134 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight. After seeing the results of a friend, I have no choice but to stay on plan and push through. So far I have stayed on plan! Excited to use this area to be encouraged and help others!

Don't be scared. IP will work for you if you are honest with yourself about what you eat and follow the program.

Will it be hard to start ?... yes, the first few days CAN (but aren't always) be miserable with hunger pangs, feeling like you have flu while your body adjusts to burning fat as a major fuel source.

However, you can get past the cramps by increasing salt intake and making sure you never miss a potassium supplement. You can get past feeling lightheaded by drinking lots of water, and you can survive for four days feeling less than perfect. With luck, you may one of the lucky ones who gets a real burst of energy from using ketones as your fuel. Fingers crossed and welcome to IP. :)

Thanks so much, I survived week one with an 8.2lb loss, but I also got my period during the week so I felt kinda crappy. This is the start of week 2 and I am hanging in there, lol

Glad to hear you had a good first week loss, that really helps with motivation. Hopefully you're starting to feel comfortable on IP and the non-ToM weeks will go smoothly. :)

Not only a newbie to this forum but also to the IP way of life. I go Wednesday the 21st to start this journey. I've done my version of adkins and lost about 25 lbs but gained that plus about 40 more back. I've looked at some of your before and after pics and it absolutely brings me to tears to think that I, too, can do this. I am so tired of being fat. I hate the way I look, the way I feel, and the fact that I just can't do a lot of things that I use to be able to do. Looking forward to being a new me.

Journey begins Monday!!!

I have my first consultation on Monday, Jan. 19th. I have been reading up on the deal protein diet and am excited to start. I see where everyone states that the first few days are tough. Any suggestions on how to combat the withdrawals I am sure to experience from cutting out my diet coke?

Thanks, for any input to this newbie.:)

Welcome to IP and 3FC, Frawniemae. You know the interesting thing about bodies? Despite how badly we have treated them in the past, they forgive us and recover quite nicely once we give them a better diet. You CAN do this, come join those of us who are determined to reach our goals AND keep the weight off in future. :)

Welcome rebelgrl87. :) Withdrawals? Let's see ... no processed food so you will need to make sure you are getting enough sodium to stop muscle cramps, lightheadedness and dizziness. Body going through the carb withdrawal - lots of water, over your recommended 64oz but no more than half your body weight in oz. Many coaches recommend an extra packet for the first week, to ease you over that hurdle. Try saving a packet you are likely to love (probably the chocolate drink) or one of your restricted items (chocolate soy puffs or a bar) for the time you normally get the munchies or crave something sweet. Learning how to work with the program will help you during the journey.

The diet coke habit will be hard to give up, but you can do it. Meantime, google Zevia. These aren't great for you, but they are better than the branded drinks and you could probably work one into your diet once ketosis is established. :)

You can do this! You will be amazed that not only will you look better and lose weight, but so many aches and pains will also go away. It really is amazing. I think one advantage this diet has over Atkins is that you have structured eating with the packets. It does teach you not to snack. I am 50+, past menopause and failed low calorie, conventional diets. This diet is life changing. Can't wait to cheer your success!:carrot:

Hello, I'm a returning IP'er. Lost 61 lbs now up by 25 lbs through out the holidays. I have always tried to stick to the basic principles of IP which is why I'm not up by more. Mistake I made was taking "a break" and allowing that to mean I go right back to old habits :( and pizza. I must learn to get to goal and learn how to live the maintenance world. I must realize that this is my new way of life. Not a temporary state till I lose my weight. I need to say good bye for ever to old bad habits and understand once and for all a fun day is just that a day not a week or two.
Harder for me this time, I had a buddy doing it with me that kept me excited and honest. She is at maintenance and does awesome working out and making new goals so proud of her but I miss doing this with her.

So committing to coming here and reading daily and back to seeing my coach weekly. Going to join some kind of low impact exercise program to get some habits in place. Time to prove to myself that the first success wasn't a fluke and that this is the solution to my future health and weight control.

Hello to all !!!

Hi, I am on day 18 of IP and down 8.5 lbs. I was terribly addicted to full calorie coke. I was very concerned about the withdrawal symptoms and quite honestly was never sure if it was the sugar or the caffine it in that I was addicted to. Now I know it was the caffine. I don't drink coffee however you are allowed coffee and tea. I started replacing my morning coke with a large iced tea with one pack of stevia. I have done that since day one and I can honestly tell you I don't miss my coke. I had a bit of a headache on day 3, took a tylenol and that was it. You are not supposd to drink alot of caffine but I do drink a large glass of ice tea in the morning at it has really helped me with my soda issue.

newbie checkin' in. week 3 of IP here. so far, doing great! i found this community and think it will be another tool that i can use to reach my goal. like mamma always said...birds of feather flock together :)

i'm feeling great and really motivated. just had my week 3 weigh-in with my coach (a bit early this week because i'm working the rest of the week) and i'm down 13lbs! woooohooo! :carrot: IP is convenient for me because i work long hours and hate the hassle of planning and preparing.....so grabbing a few packets and a meal for my 12hr work day is ideal (pun kinda intended)!

so yeah....just checking in, hoping to connect with some other newbies that i can keep track of for motivation and support along the way.....

New to IP this week

Hi Everyone!

My name is Susan, and I've just started the IP program this week! Day 4. First weigh in tomorrow. I noticed everyone has been using IP packages to make meals, and I wondered how you track this if you can only have the two meals unrestricted and 1 restricted? How do you know how much you can have?

A little disgruntled because my first two soups, I wasn't a fan as the veggies we hard like how they come in the packet, and the chocolate shake wasn't great either... We are on a strict food budget so I find sometimes it's tough to make things interesting. I'm really motivated to follow through as I need to get off 75-85lbs. HELP!!
