Hello all!
Slip: Have been thinking of you and all the snow you are getting. Stay safe. I had never heard of a travel ban before! A couple of times a winter we get 12-24 inches of snow at a time, there is never a travel ban. And our schools never close! Enjoy, if you can. Kooky: Great to hear from you, and you are doing so well. Great job. Jenny: Florida sounds wonderful. Sun and relaxation. Hawaii: Great job with the food, that is what I struggle with. Lucci: I am glad you are back. You lost the pounds once, you can do it again. Good for you for jumping back into the program. Steph: Glad you had a great time on the cruise. We are our own worst critics, especially about our weight and the way we look. After my trip I realized I don't look as good as I thought I did either! LOL. Keeps me plugging along and trying to improve. I am still here, feeling down lately. The scale is going in the wrong direction. I know I need to get better with my eating, that is my problem. I am hoping that my mood is PMS and will be gone soon. I have been going to spin class twice a week and doing more dog walks which is good. It is the food choices that I need to work on. I will keep plugging away. |
Want2b- we cancel school for a few inches, school districts are afraid of the liability. We only have travel bans during blizzards, designed to keep foolish people off the roads. With 95 going through the state, we have a lot of accidents during snow/ice events. This storm was not as bad as others, because we had power! As for weight, I can not seem to get back to my low weight, so any indulgence at all bumps me up to scream weight. Ugh! I feel your stress too!
Jenny, Florida sounds great right now! |
Hey ya'all,
Another day at home :( Expecting more snow during the commute tomorrow, but I think we will go anyway. Pretty good food day today. Actually enjoyed the day off, after "dealing" with the sub par snow removal job! Needless to say, the guy came back to improve it. Booked the house in Maine for a week later since it looks like school is going to go longer. Now it will not have to worry as the school end date gets closer to my vacation. I don't think that we will have 8 more snow days. Sigh of relief. |
Slip - I hope you're not getting cabin fever after being snowed in for 3 days. No such thing as snow days here no matter how bad it seems to get. Whoever thought it was a good idea to build a 1+ million city in a place with such stupid weather should give their head a shake.
All the fun I had on the cruise has resulted in the start of a cold. There were so many people coughing all around me on the flight home - yuck. I don't normally work on Fridays but tomorrow unfortunately happens to be one of the rare times we do. Not looking forward to stepping on the scale tomorrow afternoon. The Ketostix showed ketones today which is great but I haven't had enough 100% days to fix what I did on the cruise yet. Oh well, time to face the music! |
Steph, Definitely have cabin fever. Life got back to normal for most people yesterday, but a couple of schools have taken a while to dig out. How do you all deal with the weather? School buses on icy roads?
Sorry that you are getting a cold :(. As you face the music, you already know that you are back on track. This is a lifelong plan and dealing with vacation is part of it. Be glad that you had fun on the vacation! Good luck with work tomorrow. |
Steph- glad you had a great trip. Hope your cold digest better soon.
Slip - Maine sounds lovely. I've always wanted to go. Is it likely your year will get extended? I don't think they do that in Cananda cuz it would reck the summer camp business. Must make it challenging to plan. Want2b :hug:hang in there. Go to the store and pick out some yummy veggies and on plan food. Enjoy your Friday and safe driving Slip if you're out and about today. |
Jenny, I love Maine. My mom and I go on a week long vacation there every year. We do extend the school year for snow days, every day missed is made up in at the end of the year. How do your schools handle really bad weather? The drive this am was okay. We are expecting another 6 inches of snow on Monday :(,hope the weather people are wrong and it goes out to sea!
Are you feeling any better? Does anyone have good plans for this weekend? |
Steph: I think facing the music keeps us honest. Hopefully it isn't too bad.
Jenny: I have good food in the house, just no desire to cook it. Off plan stuff is easier. But I am still trying. Slip: glad you booked the Maine trip. It will give you something to look forward to and keep your mind off the snow! Lol. I smiled at your question about how we deal with the snow. I think we are more used to it then you guys. We drive on those kind of roads 5 plus months of the year. The schools and work don't shut down so you drive thru it because you need to get there. I am still plugging along. Trying to get myself back on track. I do good most of the time, but then I fall off and have something I shouldn't. Then get upset with myself. I keep telling myself, "I will do this". I just wish the mojo would return soon. Lol. |
Updated my ticker - up 3 lbs post-cruise. I'm PMSing and this cold may be contributing to that a bit too. Just wish I wasn't sick so I could have hit the gym the past couple days. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow so I can get some exercise. I picked up some sauerkraut and have it cooking with pork tenderloin in the crock pot. Smells good! At least I think it does. Nose is plugged up.
Slip - I also giggled about your snow comment. We have no choice but to get on with it when we have winter conditions. The weather is so unpredictable here. It was like Spring the other day and now we have 4 inches of snow and -15c. The forecast for next weekend says 15c. There are so many mornings I would rather take a snow day than get on the icy roads and fight traffic amongst the 100's of accidents that happen around the city in those conditions. Unfortunately the expectation - especially in my line of work - is that you try to make it to work no matter what is going on with the weather. It sucks, but that's Canada! I much preferred the mild climate of England :P I was just going to say I have never been to Maine but that's a fib. I've been to Portland, Maine. Only for a few days but it was very pretty there in October. It would have been nice to stay longer. I'm sure you're looking forward to your vacation and the warmer weather! |
Right now we have 32 inches of snow on the ground, temps in the teens, high winds and 12 more inches on the way! Just plain hating on winter right now!
Glad that your vacation fun was not that harsh on the scale. Hope your cold is gone soon too. |

No snow tires, all season tires. We get regular snow but one to two blizzards each year. Problem is- these storms are pretty close together. No where to put the snow and because it is so cold, no melting.
