kissi: Woo hoo. 50lbs. Awesome! I did a little dance and cried in the bathroom when that happened to me.

I finished this great knit scarf that I have been working on and was wondering if I would be able to wear it any time soon. I wore it this morning. It was in the 40's here and now they are saying next week we are all going to be hit by the Polar Vortex and it will be really cold. Bring it on. I have my scarf and my new puffy coat, in a size medium no less!
I think I was more in shock over the 50 lbs lost than anything else. My sister is also following the IP protocol using alternatives and she hit 50 lbs lost today as well. 100 lbs gone between the two of us is just crazy to think!!!!

Sizes are just weird in general. I have consistently been inbetween a 6 and a 4 for a while now. Some 4's are way too tight and some 6's fall off of me.
I think I'm seriously inbetween those sizes. I swear I totally skipped the 8s, the couple of things I bought in size 8s were too big before I really got any wear out of them!!

I bet you are going to look so cute in your poofy Medium coat and scarf! I do not envy the polar vortex coming because I would rather sweat than be cold.

Had to share a YIPPEE moment and not even weight related LOL. So I read on here earlier this week about the Veggetti. I had told a coworker all about it and I will have to get one this weekend. Well, she went to lunch today and bought me one for all the work I help her out with. (Literally she calls me to her desk at least 10 times a day LOL) I am so excited to use it. It's the little (big) things that put a great smile on my face. Have a great weekend all!

If it is low enough in fat, then you could eat it. The thing to watch out for would be the sodium. It will almost certainly have enough to cause you to retain water tomorrow.

I'm curious what you are using for pizza crust. I tried the ones from Nashua and the cauliflower recipe floating around the internet and neither fulfilled my craving. Pizza is the one food I haven't been able to replicate with any satisfaction.

Cravings 0, willpower 1

It's seeming pretty likely that my stall is hormonally related - I was craving a cupcake from the bakery downstairs in the WORST WAY (and I'm not a huge fan of cupcakes to begin with!). And I had already eaten my lunch, and was still hungry even after drinking extra water and waiting it out.

Instead of heading there, I walked down to the Trader Joe's that is in our complex, picked up some cucumbers and a box of mushrooms, and I am going to snack on my veggies knowing that cravings didn't win today!

You could use the Schneider's Extra Lean Deli Ham and still be on plan... that & lots of mushrooms, green, red, & yellow peppers, and onion (because it's not going to carmelize) and fresh spinach leaves wilted on top.
Or put shrimp on it... Or you could use a packet to make the crust out of Potato Puree Tortilla or the Broccoli Cheddar Soup Tortilla. If you are using the pepperoni, watch out for filler carbs - they tend to use them to lower the fat content.

Wahoofan - I use a potato puree packet to make the crust. Recipe posted below.

Liana - thanks for the alternative suggestions, I think I'll skip the pepp. I usually do just veggies, but then this morning I realized I'd forgotten to plan a "real" protein for the day.

Thanks Ladies!

IP Crispy Cereal Pizza Crust (This recipe also works for Italian bread)

Pizza Crust or Italian Bread:

* 1 Ideal Protein Crispy Cereal or Potato Puree pulverized
* 1 tsp baking powder
* 1 tsp oregano
* Pinch of Real Salt
* Pinch of Real Seasoning Salt
* Dash of Italian Seasoning
* 1 egg white
* 1/8 cup (2 tbsp) water
* Very finely chopped cauliflower to act as “cheese.” Sprinkle on top (optional)

Mix all ingredients together and let it sit for a couple of minutes to absorb. You may add a little more water at this point and stir again. Note: It should be a little thinner than pancake batter, but thicker than a crepe.) Pour the whole mixture into a frying pan coated with a little(minimal) PAM. Treat it like a big pancake, flip when ready. Place crust onto a pan or Pizza stone on the middle rack. Bake at 400 degrees for 5-10 minutes to dry it out and slightly crisp it. Add toppings. Return to oven for 5-7 minutes.
Pizza Toppings:

* Walden Farms Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce
* IP select vegetables of choice. Such as mushrooms, spinach, or bell pepper
* Cauliflower finely chopped or pulverized

Heat or cook the chopped cauliflower (microwave 3-4 minutes) until soft. Put a small amount of the Tomato Basil Sauce on the crust. Top with cauliflower, which acts as “cheese.” Top with vegetables.

I have heated up the chocolate drink mix (after I mix it up with water) for a hot chocolate fix.

I just made the red pepper puree from the red peppers and poblanos I had in my garden. YUM! I love it! I added the celery but next time I probably won't. I can oddly enough taste the celery in there and thought it was even better without (I blended it without the celery and tasted it and then added the celery).

You could use this for the pizza sauce on the above pizza crust recipe!

I'm looking forward to trying the puree that can be used for gravy.

I have been having some real huge thoughts about going off plan. It has been a tiring mental battle the last few days. So I came on here to get my mind right. I haven't posted much lately and I think I need to just get refocused. Luckily, I haven't caved.

Then it makes me think: I feel like I'm a member of AA and this board is my sponsor talking me out of making a bad choice. LOL. I'm glad to have you all as my sponsor! Keep on keeping on!

Pinky2012 The crispy cereal on its own is disgusting. Like the others I convert it into something a lot more yummy - I add an egg white, 1/4tsp baking powder, vanilla drink packet, crushed crispy cereal and water together. Makes about 4 muffins. Preheated 350C for 10-15 mins (depending on your altitude). You can then toss some SF syrup over the top and still have two left for supper or next day's breakfast, or to carry with you on days when you don't have time to prepare something for the next meal. Very nibbly!

pishposhappelsauce Is your kitchen warm or cool, lots of natural sunlight or very little? You can either play up the warm and deeper tones of your cabinets with a grey-toned olive, or a pale yellow ... or cool it down with a dove grey, palest blue or light lavender. You'd be amazed at how much difference it can make to a room.

kissi Grats on the 2.4 for 50lbs lost. That is a great number to reach. I'm jealous!

scorbett1103 Sorry to hear you're having a flare and waiting out ToM. I think you did well to lose at all. Way to stay focused and positive though - you're a great example of how to keep your cool on IP.

locopollo You mean the Low Carb/Low Fat website that the Facebook IP has been promoting? If so, yes, it's Chef Verati. He does make mention of the fact that some of the recipes are not P1 compliant and that we should make changes where necessary. Some of the recipes look really interesting, and I'm going to be looking there when I have more time.

catlady1981 Whut? You finished a handmade scarf and wore it without a pic for us? Congrats on the medium size coat, too, that is a wonderful size to have in your "current" wardrobe.

canadjineh Oh drool drool .. La Perla has some lovely things in their current collection. I could do some serious damage to the bank account on their website.

Question: For those of you who nuke the bars in the microwave, how long do you put them in for? Does it make them runny or just softer?

Congrats, good luck to you

[QUOTE=CenTXChk;5091395]Congrats Shathom and ratfancy on your retirements! Living the dream ladies!! Are there any hobbies you are involved with or want to learn about? My dad keeps himself busy and out of the kitchen by taking art classes and painting. He gardens and volunteers at his church and the local food bank. Lots of opportunities out there. Have fun!

Thank you, I have to figure out what I want to do now for fun. I have some projects around my house that need to be done and I'll be going out of town to spend time with my son and his family for Thanksgiving. After that, the sky's the limit

[QUOTE=pishposhappelsauce;5091411]Congrats on your retirements, shathom and ratfancy!

Thank you very much!

I telework about 6-8 days a month and I agree that proximity to the fridge is a real problem.... It is too easy to graze throughout the day. Planning food for the day and then sticking to the plan can be helpful, but I find that putting my mind and hands, too, if possible , to work on some project or task seems to be most effective.

As a retiree you can get out of the house - check out the programs at your nearby colleges and universities - you can often audit classes for no cost, and larger schools have quite a lot of programs for seniors.

Personally - I highly recommend learning to dance - there is a great crowd of dancers out there and the seniors often have daytime/ afternoon classes and tea dances. Great way to get some extra exercise, use your mind to remember steps, and meet some fun people... And you will have some good excuses to buy more dress-up clothes for dance parties!
Thanks for the tips, I love to dance. I retired a Logistics Management Specialist, I have had enough classes to last me a lifetime

The bottom line is I need to find something I will enjoy doing away from the house so I don't find myself grazing in the kitchen.

Thanks for all the tips!

I drink the raspberry jelly hot. Add 6 - 8 ounces of hot water to the powder in a coffee mug.

Default This is only my 3rd week of IP would love any tips I can get!

I was introduce to IP from a colleague of mine, needless to say I was struggling to lose weight via my traditional methods. I decided to give IP a try and so far so good! Today was my 3 week weigh in, actually it's only been 19 days OP and I am down 13.8 LBS. I hope this continues! Any tips you can give me are appreciated!
