OK - What are the best quest bars to get to stay on protocol?
I'm heading to the store this morning on my way out of town for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer . . . 39.3 miles over a period of 2 days! I know that I've got to eat a little more than normal, but would like to stay as close to protocol as possible. Thanks! Michelle |
Kelly, Kissi and Shelby: You girls are gorgeous, keep it up!
|
I also opted to not eat the snack last night at 10pm. I hate eating after 8 on "normal" day, so after 8 on a "new normal" just didn't seem justified! I did get in 99 grams of Protein yesterday, which is about average for me when I do get all of the meals in.
|
Good Morning Everyone...
First off I would like to thank those that know this program inside and out for all the guidance! You don't know how helpful you all are. I learn something new from you guys every day! So Just Thanks :):) Shelby ~ Wow your face looks great....did you lose weight?:rofl: Sorry had to do it! I have to work today all day and tomorrow my office hosts its annual pumpkin patch! I will be there all day. there are always cookies and hot cider for the kids and bagels for the associates so I will have my cooler packed with my lunch and my IP packs! LOL So thrilled with my WI yesterday! Also forgot to mention I lost a few inches too. 1 full inch from my waist...Yeah |

Good morning and it is. I did it:carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:
I am under goal. Last night WI l lost 1.8. I only needed to lose .6 to get to goal. I am staying one more week on Phase 1 because I want a little cushion. Do most people gain a little when they phase out? Also as a new coach both of my clients did well in five days one lost 2.4 who has been struggling on program and my newbie lost 5.8. Both were very happy as well as I was:smug: |
Oh wow! Congratulations!! You have done such a wonderful thing!!
|
Eating IP is such a radical change...so many changes...
Now I take supplements 3x a day. I ingest ACV daily in my olive oil & ACV salad dressing. I've cut out bad carbs. I don't drink diet coke or chew SF gum. I don't do dairy. The last two sentences are things I've never gone without when losing weight before. I am experiencing benefits like never before in my weight loss attempts. (And I've had MANY attempts!) I'm just curious about giving up dairy for good. I've dealt with a itchy red scalp since I was a young girl...and it is so much better now. My energy level is so much better...and even my sense of smell is stronger. Maybe it's all of these good habits rolled up into IP making such improvements...but I want to keep it this way! Do any of you have sensitivities to dairy? I'm in my 8th week...I have no desire to get back on the SAD. Happy Friday everyone! |

I kept losing as I phased off, some people have said they gained a pound or two - I think it's all an individual thing. |

Thanks Lisa . . . do you have another suggestion for bars?
I guess I could swing by my coach and pick up some . . was just hoping to get a variety and not a full 7 days worth of bars . . . just looking for a few to get me through the weekend. THANKS! |
My goodness Pinky!! That's a lot of walking, and an amazing cause to be doing it for. Have an awesome weekend :)
Not so fat, congrats on your success and the success of your clients, it's so great that you are helping others after your amazing success. I have a question that may or may not have been answered a dozen times, but I am not finding my answer when I try searching. I want to make deconstructed cabbage rolls (just tomato, extra lean beef and cabbage) I've already made them before, but felt I needed more cabbage. I want to stay 100% OP, so if I skip my veggies at lunch, and say just eat some lettuce and cukes so I can add extra cabbage for my dinner, will that be ok? I fell like I would be cheating :) |

Loose skin is mostly a matter of genetics, age, how long you were overweight, etc., etc. Being over 50 means my skin doesn't have the same "snap back power" as it did when I was younger. I was told to give it about a year to shrink up as much as it's going to. Resistance training can help define the muscle under the skin but some loose skin is just inevitable short of surgical intervention. I'd rather live with some extra skin than an extra 125 pounds! |

Yoga Mon night, fitness class Tues. morning, yoga Tues night, yoga Wed night, fitness class Thurs morning, than a mad dash to another town for yoga then back to yoga Thurs night I was suppose Togo to a yoga class this am., but I slept in.YAY! Unofficial WI this a.m. 9 lb from goal! |
RE: when you eat your veggies. You can split the 4 cups per day ANY way that works for you - and if you know you're eating a veggie-heavy dinner, you can save some or all of your lunch veggies for dinner and just have lettuce salad or unrestricted raw veg at lunch. That was how I did Thanksgiving last time I was on IP - I just had all my veggies at T-Day dinner (which was around lunchtime), and later in the day I made a romaine lettuce salad to go with my packet. That goes for pretty much everything we are supposed to eat in a day - it doesn't matter WHEN you eat your 4 cups veg, 8 oz protein and packets...as long as you eat everything you're supposed to in a day!
And today was WI day - 1.2lbs down! I'm thrilled with that as I had two bigger loss weeks in a row, which is not the norm for me. That puts me a little over 20lbs gone in 8 weeks! Woo hoo! |

I have to be really careful with them b/c they "make" me want to eat more than 1. My local grocery store is now carrying them so I can buy singles :) |
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
I have an NSV to share. Yesterday I was in Target and had some time to waste so I decided to try some clothes on. I didn't have any $, but thought it would be fun to see what fit. I chose a few dresses and skirts that I really didn't think would fit or look good! and was pleasantly surprised. First, it was wonderful to be able to shop in the regular department and just choose clothes off of the rack!! I picked out size large and they all fit!! now I wasn't very happy about how my calves looked in the dresses, I've always had big calves and still do. So i'm hoping they get smaller as the weight comes off. I'd love to be able to wear a dress. Still, it was a good feeling! |
kissi and Kelly: I saw your pictures from yesterday. WTG. What a difference!
|
Happy Friday Everyone!! WI this morning and 2 lbs down. I'm 9 lbs til goal!!! 2 more lbs and I hit 50 lbs lost. I really may stay on until I hit 60 lbs lost which would be phasing off at 132.4. I am just playing it by ear.
This diet works, especially if you are 100% OP. I like IP!! :carrot: I hope everyone has a great day!!! |

Plateau question
Notsofat-Congrats to meeting goal! That must be an amazing feeling!
I do have a question about plateaus- I have been dealing with the same 2-3lbs for 6-7 weeks. This becoming extremely discouraging. Do you all think my metabolism has just slowed on me at this calorie level, reaching a happy homeostasis at 1000 cal a day? Do you think that eating OP food, but perhaps upping it by 500 or 1000 cal for a day or two might jar my body into releasing? I have read through old plateau threads and some saw success with a "cheat" day. I am wondering if I should go more strict and do a "bootcamp" week with just fast protein or if i should go with more calories for a day....help? |

I like sauerkraut in my cabbage rolls (deconstructed or not, lol) and you can get a bit more veg in that way since it doesn't really cook down much after you measure it. Maybe that will help. I also like a bit of caraway in mine, but that's just me - more German style cabbage rolls than Polish or Ukrainian.

Kelly - I had to go back into yesterday's thread to see your progress pics - AWESOME JOB!!
NSV for today, a woman at work stuck a note on my computer saying "You're looking good skinny! Keep up the good work!" :) Made my day! Also put on a pair of jeans today that used to give me muffin top REALLY bad....now they're a little loose in the bum and I can't wear them without a belt :) Halloween is upon us! My house is about to be flooded with candy. Tonight, our cub scout pack has a Halloween Hike at a local wildlife sanctuary. Tomorrow is Trunk or Treat at our church, and Sunday is a Halloween parade near my dad's house. That's not even counting the ACTUAL trick or treats or their karate dojo's Halloween party next week! But we've always been pretty strict about the candy in the house (my husband is a type 1 diabetic), so I'm not TOO worried. We let the kids pick out their favorite stuff, enough to fill a big mason jar. That's what they get to keep, and have treats in their lunchbox for the next few weeks. A lot of it I bake into goodies for Turkey day, and hubby and I usually take a "parent tax" of our favorites :) This year, my mommy tax is going in the freezer for maintenance cheat day treats! |

It adds in 1 low fat dairy serving, 1 fruit serving, and 1 starch carb serving per day. I started to lose again when I did that, as I was just not feeling well and (for my body) wasn't getting enough food by that time. I actually lost into P3 and maintenance doing it this way, so for me it does work and I know it has for others too. Have you had your bloodwork done - how are your thyroid panels and blood sugars?? That's another possibility. Liana |
Thanks Liana. You might be right about switching over to diabetic to see if there is a change. Did you order your group choices in any particular way? Doing the fruit at breakfast, grain at lunch, dairy at dinner?
I have had my bloodwork done and everything looks really good. I am hoshimoto hypo, but everything is looking good on those panels with my current synthroid. |

I'm baAaAck. Had an awesome vacation in southwest Colorado the last week and a half. Got in at 2 am this morning and I'm plugging away at work today (zZzZ). First day in my new role so I'm pretty energized.
Had a good week mostly OP on Phase 2. I had a couple of planned "off" meals, and added an extra packet a couple of days because of all of the hiking we did. My fitbit registered more than 15,000 steps every day we were there, and on our most active day, 25,000 steps and more than 200 floors! Stepped on the scale this morning and I'm about a half pound down from where I was when I left. Thinking it might go lower over the weekend as I re hydrate and catch up on sleep and my muscles calm down a bit. Planning to stay on P2 for another two solid weeks to get back to a normal eating routine and then transition to P3 the second week of November. Congrats to everyone on the losses and those who are at or so close to goal! Definitely missed ya'll while I was disconnected. :) |

I'm bummed today. My mom came over for lunch like usual but today she stopped at Wegmans for the salad bar. She brought me (with the best intentions) an Asiago cheese cake, which I declined at first but buckled under let pressure...turns out the first ingredient is rice and it had 52 net carbs! I'm sad about this. I'm just going to brush it off and keep going but I'm not happy! I hope everyone is having a great Friday! |

Keeping up your protein is important, but so is maintaining your carb and caloric intake. If you drop them too low, your body will refuse to lose fat because it thinks it's in "starvation mode". If you get to the stage where you're feeling it's too late for an evening snack try and grab one of the soup mixes, make it with more water and put it in a mug. It makes it way easier for drinking it, sort of like extra water. :) Sgrealtor1 Yay, glad for the loss of poundage AND inches. The kind of week we all love. :) Not so fat anymore Way to go on reaching goal! That is awesome sauce. :) Congrats on your two clients as well. Proud "IP Mama" there. ;) becky123abc I make sure that my enzymes contain a hefty dose of lactase, as I end up coughing like a smoker with a ton of excess mucus from any milk or whey based product - and you can imagine what that would be like with IP products. I have also, finally, got rid of the candida that plagued me for 25 years, so I agree 100% that IP is more than just a "diet", it's got some very positive side effects rolled in, too. :) scorbett1103 Congrats on the nice numbers. Good start to the weekend. :) I love how supportive your colleague is, must be great to know you have someone who notices and gives you that motivation. :) On the subject of healthy kid treats, did you ever see WellnessMama's website where she makes probiotic marshmallows and healthy gummies? Kellyc14 I love love love this for you, Kelly. Such a wonderful feeling. :) Loving Friday already. Hubby let me sleep in (after I got up at 5 to feed the furballs) so I feel rested and ready to face the weekend. Think I'm going to visit a sewing store and pick up what I need for alterations and get brave over the weekend. Have a great day, folks. :) |

TGIF everybody! Have a great weekend. It's going to be almost 90 degrees here tomorrow. I'll be outside somewhere doing something fun. |
Hahahah Andrea!!!
Im going to try to make Chili tonight, it'll be similar to a stuffed bell pepper but cut up with gluten free/low sodium chili seasoning!!! Sounds like its going to be a rainy weekend here, so ill probably be stuck inside doing house work.... Congrats on the WI's!!! So proud :carrot::cb::cp: |
Aww...thanks Catlady and Kissi on my new pic!
Scorbett.... We do much the same with the candy in our house. In fact, I feel awfully wasteful when the kids get so much candy since we don't eat 80% of it (well, I would say MOST of the chocolate gets eaten, lol!). We do an Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box (actually we do three shoeboxes) for kids in developing countries, and we usually give them a few treats (along with toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss). Last year, I had a GREAT way to deal with the last of the candy (especially the stick in your teeth candy I won't let the kids have). We bought gingerbread house kits at Michaels (the kind with prebaked gingerbread and the icing all in the kit) and supplemented the included candy with all the old Halloween treats. We melted some of the jolly ranchers for stained glass windows and rolled the tootsie rolls into tree trunks. SOOOO much fun! |

I am known to make brownies for the office around the holidays and either crumble the candy bars on top or bake them in. Gets them off my hands FAST! |
