I am so happy right now, giving myself a big hug! After getting back on track my first week weigh in has me 3.4 pounds lighter :cheer2: :cheer3:

I struggled over the weekend at work with some nausea, I don't really remember that the first time I went through IP so I am hoping that goes away soon. They really sort of frown on me when I am 'running' to the restroom because I feel like I need to pray to the porcelain deity. ;)

I see so many victories to celebrate, I hope you all take the time to realize how awesome you are to be taking this journey for yourselves. Those having difficulties, remember to breathe and know we have all been there and are here to help you

:add: Someone asked about how to add their ticker. You get to add one after 20 posts (reminds me I need to update/ change mine) Also at 20 posts is when I believe you can start to pm people as well.

jackiegee I'm a Pilates dabbler, more of a yoga fan tho. I personally chose to continue my physical activity even through my reboot but with an additional packet (per Scorbett's recommendations - thanks Scorbett!). I made the decision to continue because I was already established in my routine which I didn't want to give up (I get up & do my Tracy Anderson video at 5:15 every am M-F. Weekends are more flexible & usually entail yoga - my fave!). Additionally, I have to exercise for stress relief - I'm a high strung person & without exercise I'm...not the best version of myself. So it was a personal & purposeful decision for me to stay active.

That being said, my mother who successfully lost 45 lbs on IP & has maintained (for a year & a half!) never exercised a day on P1. She states she never had the energy for it.

Good luck w/your decision - whatever is right for you...

On the exercising themed posts....

I did not exercise on P1. Of course, some of that was because heavy exercise is problematic but mostly because I was SOOO TIRED on P1! I just didn't have the extra reserves. Now, if I were on P1 for more than a few months (I did 4 months), I think that I would do like others and add some stretching/muscle toning to help with our ever-changing bodies.

I just started exercise now on P3 (had family visiting the entire time on P2)...my energy is such that I can easily push into work-out mode. I didn't look at my time on P1 as being "lazy", I just saw it as giving my body one job to do: burn fat!!!! Now that I am adding carbs back (and can feel the energy shift), I see exercise not as a fix-all but as a new step in the process.

Each thing in it's time for me!

My best NSV yet: My wedding ring fits again!!!!!!! I haven't been able to wear it since having my daughter (she's 4 now...eek!). Fits perfectly and will be a good indicator of when I need to watch my food more closely in maintenance!

Congrats on your loss and thank you for your kind words - we all (I guess I ) need to practice gratitude more regularly.

Still trying to figure out how I should be grateful for the 3 times I had to get up in the night to use the facilities, however...

Congrats!!!

All my rings are too big. I even lost one at work on Friday when I was washing my hands but I didn't notice it at the time. It was costume jewelry, but I was surprised when I got home and only had one ring on when I left the house with two!

My reward at the end of all this is to buy myself a very nice sterling silver ring at James Avery. Then I can use the ring as a gauge as well as my clothes for gains.

I'm going to pull out some of my yoga CD's and see what I can accomplish. I've been at this now for 6 months.

TXWineo and SkyAvery:

I love pilates too - especially using the equipment - which is my plan. i used to love yoga but after my knees were replaced I can no longer kneel. Of course I know there are modifications but it was kind of disruptive in the class so I didn't feel comfortable and it was no longer fun. Using the reformer in pilates doesn't require as much modification.

Actually the physio asked me after my surgeries what I was looking forward to again now that I had new knees. I said yoga and nice shoes. Turned out neither were really possible.

Can't wear the shoes I used to but that's probably a good thing because it may be that falling off all those sky high platforms when I was young contributed to the demise of my knees.

I've been experiencing some nausea as well (on day 6 of IP). Does anyone have ideas for fixes for that? Will it pass once I adjust to the eating plan?

Sometimes I feel nauseated after I take the supplements... particularly the morning ones that I usually take on an empty stomach.... not sure if this fits your situation, but it could be a contributing factor.

The potassium really upsets my stomach in the morning. I must have my protein before I take them. I have even gotten so bad that I gag as I put them toward my mouth. Sorry if that's TMI but they do upset my system.

There's calcium in my multi. There is recent research that too much calcium can cause problems ( increased risk for heart attack) & cal supplementation is overrated. I get my mag from my nightly dose of Calm & calcium from my leafy greens & my multi.

Has anyone heard that the hair loss can be related to taking thyroid medicine while on IP? I read somewhere that if you have a higher dosage it can lead to more hair loss. Anyone hear of this? I'm on my second go with IP and am hoping to avoid the same issue I had before. It was right at the 4 month mark and I was really scared about the amount of hair that came out for awhile.

I have hypothyroidism so this is something I had looked into my first go-around on IP. When you engage in a rapid fat-loss diet, your body gets flooded with estrogen (estrogen is stored in fat cells, when you lose fat that estrogen is released back into the body). One effect of higher estrogen levels is that the liver releases Thyroid binding globulin - which reduces your cells' ability to properly assimilate thyroid hormone. For someone with hypothyroidism, it means the medication we take is less effective. I followed up with my endocrinologist twice during the 7 months I was on IP last time, and my levels never dropped low enough to jack up my dose of Synthroid, but I was definitely more symptomatic than usual and hair loss was one of those symptoms.

Thanks for your ideas. It has been in the morning that I feel nauseated, but I always take my protein before my morning pills. Also notice I am burping the last three days terribly as the day goes on. I have always had issues with multi vitamins at least since taking the prenatal for my pregnancies and always take those during dinner.
