Good Morning! I could use some help. I am on week 3 and we are going on a cruise in 1 week. I know I read some threads with tips for staying OP while traveling, but I've read so many threads I cannot recall which ones had this info. Can any of you please remind me which ones have this info? Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated! I've been staying 100% OP so far but the cruise will be a challenge for me, especially since we are going with extended family and one of the things we do best together is eat!

I traveled to family and Disney World for ten days recently and stayed OP..I can't seem to link my post, but it will show up if you google "Ideal Protein and Disney World". Preparation and mindset are the keys. My hubby was on board with helping me stay 100% on plan...and that helped because he wasn't constantly tempted me to cheat with the amazing food choices around me.

Water enhancer (like mio) helped with funny tasting water and using my restricteds wisely so I felt I was getting a treat at the same time as others was helpful too. I used Quest bars because the IP bars and wafers melt with traveling and heat.

Just think, you may be the ONLY passenger on that cruise who isn't going to feel overstuffed by day 2...you'll feel great!!!!

Happy Friday the 13th IP'ers! It's a gorgeous day here, and I finally don't have to work all evening tonight. Yay! I'm excited for Father's Day because i'm getting my hubby (well all of us) a new gas grill. Our old one rusted out last year. Grilling is going to make IP really fun!

Any recommendations on gas grill (need to he rather inexpensive below $300). Also, feel free to give me your best grilling recipes/ideas. I can taste grilled veghie-kabobs as I type.

Blessings today!

I don't have a specific grill to mention but, I bought myself one at Lowes last summer. It was very reasonable and has made IP do able. They should be on sale every where for fathers day. I grill my protein every night and have to say it's delicious. The bonus is not so many dishes.

I'm down 1.6 pounds for this week. Not bad, considering that I have been sick as a dog. I always catch something when we're on the road! This week, I've had two days where I fell asleep before having my last packet & bedtime vitamins. I guess that means that my week was not exactly 100%, since I didn't eat everything that I was supposed to eat, but I suppose it could be worse!

Have a great day everyone!

We found a grill on clearance at Sears. It was a great deal.
And, yes, it makes IP much nicer. I feel spoiled when I can eat a nice steak or grilled veggies!

Evemomma, this isn't the exact one I bought last year, but very similar.

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Char-Broi...i_src=17588969

Hopefully the link will work - if not it's a Char-Broil 6 burner grill. I bought it early in the season and found it on sale for $199 at Target, but I don't see anything that cheap right now. I highly recommend getting a decent sized grill, though. You'll want to have space for veggies and a space for your protein. Grilling veggies adds a whole new dimension to them. My favorites are zucchini, broccoli, asparagus and mushrooms, but grilling really makes everything better!

We have a grill basket that kind of looks like a wok with little holes in it - its great for grilling any veggie, fruits, or other small foods that won't fit on a kebob or the grill itself. I'd suggest getting one of those as they aren't very pricey, and you can do ANYTHING in them. Just spritz the food with a bit of EVOO and everything is yummy.

I "second" the grill basket -- just love mine. Before then I just used tin foil to put the veggies in and I still love that too -- gives you the steamed version while the grill basket gives a more dried out version.

As for your request for recipes, there are soooo many you'll find tons of ideas - I do love to make stuffed mushrooms by putting the IP chicken patty crumbles in the mushroom caps (or spiced real meat but for an IP way the patty pack works well). The moisture from the mushrooms juices up that dry patty nicely. And for me, it never stays a patty anyway - always crumbles up so may as well find recipes that need meat crumbles to use those space packs up

Enjoy your grill!

Just made my first batch of jicama. I cut it into slices, coated with some splenda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and a pinch of ginger, dash of lemon and baked for a few minutes. My slices are still pretty crunchy so I think I need to make them thinner and cook longer, but I love this! Want to try combining with rhubarb for an "apple" rhubarb crisp. And it will be delicious with salads. Planning to make scallops with a watercress jicama salad later this week.

I just read the travel tips (awesome, BTW!)....are we allowed to eat mustard? It wasn't on my list of approved foods so I haven't had any. If I can, that's going to make my life MUCH better!

Default Happy Friday!

All the talk about grilling makes me think I need to get mine going and use it more. I should experiment with veggies and such and see what I like.

I lost 3.8 pounds this week, and I am super happy with that because it brings me to over 40 lost total! Onward and upward! (or is it downward, in this case?!?)
