Any Pre-Packaged or Pre-made Turkey/Chicken Burgers?

  • I'm looking for a quick meal. Some nights when I get home, I'm swamped and don't have the time to bake a chicken breast.

I've tried to cook in bulk on the weekend but that has not really worked well.

Does anyone know of a brand that I can purchase an "approved" IP Phase I chicken or turkey burger (already cooked/frozen).?
  • I use the frozen Costco extra lean turkey burgers - 2 carbs, 6 gr of fat, 35 gr of protein. They are really good - just don't over cook them or they get dried out.

I divide my ground beef into eight ounce burgers and freeze individually. I throw them on the bbq frozen the grill pan just as if I bought a premade. Cooks just the same in about 10 minutes. I'm sure it would work with ground turkey/chicken too. You could precook a bunch too and just micro to heat but as you said, cooking in bulk doesn't always happen.

Sometimes I do get on a roll for prep.

I pre-roast my peppers and freeze into 2 cup raw equivalents. (Did this when I overbought peppers and they were starting to shrivel so I wouldn't eat them raw) I can throw them in a pan to reheat in minutes. I precook my rutabaga too in chunks and freeze in portioned bags. Microwave and purée as needed. I even have parboiled rutabaga frozen fries ready to go when the kids have French fries. These are all my go to's on the busy nights.
  • I had a Jennie-O Turkey burger last night for dinner. Each is 5.5 oz, 200 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugar, 28 g. of protein. I don't usually pay attention to the carbs/sugar/protein of my meat, but thought it may be of interest.

They cook quickly from frozen either on the grill or under the broiler. You could either have 1 1/2 burgers or use some of your protein at lunch.
