Quetion - Ketosis
Hi,
I have been following the diet to a T. I have somewhat been a little off schedule though - for example:
have my shake at 8am
eat lunch at 11:30 with IP food
have dinner about 6pm
have snack IP food at 8:30
I take my suplements as normal except I take 2 potassiums vs. 1.
This week I seem to be a bit more nautious in my stomach.
Should I change something up with my schedule, add another IP food in between somewhere or something?
I guess I am wondering if I am starving myself and contradicting being in ketosos.
thanks,
IPColorado

It looks like u are following the diet pretty well. I've been on the diet for almost 14 weeks now and I've found that the nausea comes and goes. Feel better!

Even when I'm in ketosis I feel hunger pains in my stomach. I've just accepted that it's my bodies way of rebelling and trying to keep at the same weight.

Based on height, I am wondering if you are male or female? It also wouldn't hurt based on your weight to consider a fourth package.

Hi,
I am a male.
Thanks all -It sounds like all is good then. I will just add an IP in the afternoon so that would make it four.
thanks,

You are allowed 4 until 200 pounds although my coach has never really suggested it beyond week one. I only have a fourth occasionally. See what kind of results you have and maybe consider using one of the lower carb/calorie options.

Nausea can also be due to the timing of your vitamins... take a couple mouthfuls of food first, then take your pills, then finish dinner, or they could upset the tummy if taken just before food.

Sometimes our body will send hunger signals when we're actually thirsty - I'm sure there is a really good explanation for that but I don't know what it is!
Try drinking water or hot tea- that always did the trick for me when I felt like I was hungry when I knew I shouldn't be.
Of course if you are really hungry and it's not meal time eat some lettuce, a hard boiled egg white, a pickle, etc. It took a little practice for me to stop eating every time I felt like it and only eat when it was appropriate - which was a very good lesson for me to learn!

Are we not supposed to be getting "hunger pains"? My stomach always starts singing (loudly!) at noon, and I have breakfast at 9am. Also, I'm starting to think about switching up my dinner and night time snack, I don't get home until 6 and I'm so hungry by then. It would be nice to have that snack around 4:30 instead.

Melly - hunger pains when it's time to eat are fine, that's when you're supposed to get them! I was talking about the ones you get when you know you shouldn't be hungry - like an hour after eating (that happens to me a lot and water or hot tea usually fixes it).
Switching your nightime snack to the afternoon is absolutely fine - you have to find what works best with your lifestyle and schedule. You could also move a portion of your dinner protein to lunch and that might help you feel fuller longer.
It takes a bit of fiddling to figure out the timing that works best for you. I always found that I would get hungry around 10 a.m. (I ate breakfast between 5 and 5:30) so I would have a hard boiled egg white or the whole egg then and then my lunch around noon or 1 p.m.

Thanks for your knowledge, Ruth Ann!
I feel like I am now experiencing "normal" hunger for the first time in probably 4 years! Before IP, I would wake up STARVING (and tired and grouchy and...) and eat high calorie coffee and carb (bagel, cereal) and then feel shaky and STARVING again an hour later. Now, when I feel that rumbly stomach it means I really do need to eat! I also never feel shaky (hypoglycemic). What a relief!
I did experience my first "emotional" eating urge the other day when my son came home crying because he had been bullied on the bus....I wanted soooooooo badly to shove a muffin in my mouth! But I didn't and the feeling passed (and my son recovered quickly too). I don't think I could have changed these patterns without seeing exactly what sugar was doing to me.

I am a big breakfast eater, and always have been. Having the IP breakfast near killed me some days. I almost always had my evening snack mid morning. Now on Maintenance the breakfast is just right.

Funny, today I feel like I a starving but I am also cleaning my house and I'm not used to being that active. I wanted to eat at breakie so I had the apple cinnamon puffs and now I'm regretting it because I want another restricted! I think it might end up being a four packet day!

Nausea is often caused by taking supplements on an empty stomach. I am womdering if it has anything with taking double potassium.
