I have tried to reboot on my own with no luck. Official weigh in tomorrow with my coach. I am determined to be once again successful

Good morning all!

Yesterday was HARD! We had two family events, both involving restaurants. Thankfully, I knew where we would be eating, so I could plan ahead. Even though I tried to split up my meat between the two meals, I went over by a few ounces for the day. I brought my own salt, and used oil & vinegar on my salad. I brought my supplements in my purse, and drank more than 120 oz water. No wine, and no dessert. Not going to beat myself up over a few spare ounces of chicken. At least I stayed away from the dessert bar!

Although, since yesterday I have been craving key lime pie like crazy... Anyone know of a flavoring or syrup that might fill my need? Something that I could add to a drink packet?

I think I saw a recipe for key lime pie in one of the recipe threads.

And hooray for you for navigating family events! Once you get a handle on it and do it a few times, it gets easier and easier.

I add a couple packets of True Lime to the Vanilla Pudding to get that Key Lime flavor. There is a recipe around using Crispy cereal as a crust for mini key lime tarts.

True Lime! Of course. Forgot all about it, and I think I have some in the pantry. Thanks!

Mainemum- sounds like a great NSV to me. Those family events are very challenging, great planning ahead.

Amber- hope your weigh in goes well, you have been working so hard

Happy Monday everyone! It is lovely here, finally feels like Spring has arrived. I went to that wedding on Saturday and had many compliments on my dress and was 90% successful with the food. The better news was getting right back on track Sunday.
Have a great day

cooluu 04-28-2014 09:29 AM

My weigh in is typically today but my coach has moved me to Tuesday mornings. I liked getting it over on Mondays but oh well!

Been awhile...

Good Morning :)

I feel like its be quite awhile since I posted... Wanted to wish you all a wonderful week :) I cant tell you enough how much inspiration I get from the group when im on here! Yesterday was a busy day for me made a huge turkey dinner for my family and I also made a two tier Mickey mouse cake for my sons 3rd birthday which is Tuesday but we celebrated yesterday... for the first time ever I actually forgot to eat until I started feeling sick and realized I had been so busy that's why! So I gobbled up my breakfast and lunch together....I gotta say I knock on wood have not been hungry at all with this plan! I am trying 3 IP foods instead of 4 this week and so far so good :) My family is a huge support but its great to have support from this group as we are all on the same journey <3

I just got back from having my picture taken to be put in the newspaper and I'm dreading it coming out! I'm going back to school for my masters in social work and was awarded a scholarship from a local sorority. I'm happy to have the $500 but not for the newspaper on Thursday.

mckaren4 04-28-2014 11:40 AM

Back on plan this morning-had an off plan weekend in San Francisco! My youngest son got married to a wonderful young lady! I was blessed to be surrounded by family and friends all weekend! Now both my sons (all my children) are married and happy! Hope it lasts forever!!!!

Congratulations on the scholarship! Don't fret-You look great! We all need before and during pictures and hate to take them!

Hi Everyone..Hope you all had a great weekend. I was able to attend 2 parties this weekend and stay 100% OP!! The only real challenge
was not having alcohol when every one else is drinking, but I did it! This is the first time ever that I have not had horrible cravings while dieting. It is so easy I am worried I am not doing it correctly. I feel so much better than I did before I started the program. I have so much energy. I can already tell a difference in how my pants fit. WOW I am amazed! Have a wonderful week!

SophieLT 04-28-2014 02:00 PM

Has anyone tried the tea that IP sells? If so, what do you think about it?

sweetharmony 04-28-2014 02:18 PM

Hope it's a great day for all of you having weigh ins today!! I had mine and am down 7lbs this week!!! So thrilled!!

mainemum, islandgirlwannabe and NaeNae2113 - way to go on keeping OP during your get togethers / parties!!!

cooluu - congrats to you on your scholarship!!! You must be so proud of yourself!!

mckaren4 - congrats on the wedding and new addition to your family!!

Evening munchies

So this is a long term issue of mine - pre-dates my stint with IP a looonngg way and it is something that I am trying to work through with my therapist. Even with a satiating dinner, I still experience evening munchies. In trying to contemplate the "why" of the equation, I know that fatigue, frustration, and a desire to pamper myself are part of the emotions I feel. I cannot just get up and go to bed, because quite often I am working on homework after spending 8 - 10 hours in the office.

So, I'm just curious about anyone who has similar grazing urges and their "why" and how they work with it.

Thanks

smallerin2014 04-28-2014 04:45 PM

So happy with my WI today!!! Biggest loss yet of 5+ pounds (though last week was my smallest loss). I have learned to appreciate the NSVs, but seeing my weight bump down numbers on the scale always gives me a boost :carrot:

I am interested to see the other responses. I also have this problem. My day starts very early, and my "work" isn't done until late. I start cooking breakfast at 5:20am, and I am often grading my kid's school work or doing laundry straight up to 9pm. At 9, I settle in and start to watch tv with my husband, and then my "munchies" hit. First, I want something salty, then I want something sweet. I'm not hungry. I just want something out of habit. My brain says "you're tired, you deserve some chips and a few cookies."

I am only a week+ on plan, but I think I've gotten around my cravings by changing the habit. When it is tv time, it it time for a frosty treat, vitamins, and a big water. I make my last IP packet into an icy shake, and sit for tv. I try to make it last for the entire episode. When the shake is done, I get another glass of water, and make it last as long as I can. By then, it is bedtime.

On the one night that I knew we would be up late watching a movie, I saved 1C of my veggies from lunch, and had a cup of sliced cucumbers and celery with sea salt to fill the salty/crunchy craving, and then made my shake as usual.

Could you move some of your veggies to later in the day? Or make a snack out of salad? Or choose an evening IP packet that comes in bits that can be split up, i.e. 1/2 packet now, 1/2 packet in an hour?

I'm eager to see what the other suggestions are!

I had this issue too. Pickles work great (not too many!) along with a nice big cup of decaf herbal tea. Teas come in a variety of flavors so you should be able to find something 0/0/0 that will appeal to you.

I really think it's just a habit that we have to learn to break. It takes time to break a habit but realizing that it's not really hunger is a great start, the more aware of we are about "why" we want something the better prepared we are to learn to deal with not eating just because we want to.

Munchies are my on-going issue! At work and at home, I face this challenge. I think it's something we will forever be challenged with, as it is such a cultural norm. I love to make tea and have pickles as well. I like to chew on crushed ice too! Then I get cold, make a hot tea...the cycle continues!

Suggestion for something salty - kale chips!

On another note, I did hypnosis for weight loss about 15 years ago. I actually went because I would not eat veggies and I thought they could put me in some sort of hypnotic state to eat them! Well that did not work, but one of the "suggestions" was to stop snacking at night and surprisingly that one has always stuck. They also tried to suggest water but diet Pepsi still won out!

IP has been the only program to make me introduce veggies successfully because I didn't have any other choice. And no more pop! I still have to force myself to have my third pack at night.

ChipnDip 04-28-2014 06:08 PM

help, please!!!
Has anyone heard of IP not working? My husband lost 0 last week and when he did ketostix this morning he is barely registering.

Typical day
B: IP peach mango, black coffee
L: RTD premier protein, salad with 2 cups mixed cucumber and peppers with homemade Asian dressing including 1 tsp EVOO
S: IP crisps
D: 8 oz chicken, grilled with 1 cup mushrooms, 1 cup broccoli
S: pure protein chocolate peanut butter bar

He's been pretty good with supplements and drinking his water and adding his salt.

He is following things just like me, except I don't eat the bars very often and he was putting Mio in his water pretty regularly. I use stevia in my tea a couple times a day without a problem.

I can't believe mio would make a difference and if it does there is no way he will stick to the diet that will be that sensitive. He has been weak and starving all week

He is 300 pounds. Is it maybe because he is only having 4 packets instead of 5? I really want him to give me another week but I can't say I would have stayed on this if my first week wasn't so inspiring.

AmberLS 04-28-2014 06:43 PM

Okay so I asked my coach today about the bbq, S&V, and garlic and herb crisps today and he said they are absolutely a restricted.. Then I had my body analysis done, I think something isn't right with that machine or the inaccuracy in general of course. Last week my lean mass was up and this week it was weigh down and I only lost a lb of fat out of the 3 lost. He wants to know what I'm doing that's not OP but like I told him I'm 100%, so he thinks it's my body getting use to the plan.

The crisps are definitely not restricted..I think your coach is mistaken..either that or my coach and many of the people on this site are!

We had the SAME. debate when they first came out... Most coaches aid unrestricted but some were ABSOLUTELY adamant that they are restricted. Thing is, the nutrition info puts them in unrestricted (I looked up the salt/vinegar ones and they fit!)

I think it would be almost impossible for him to eat similar to the sample plan for a week and not lose! Even if he needs the fifth packet, I do not think his body would start holding on to fat that soon!! Mio, too little water... I just can't imagine those would give him 0 loss in a week!

I know you send his food with him and he eats the plan, but is it possible he is adding other things in as well? (Not trying to be mean and distrustful... But something besides IP is keeping him from losing.)

He is following 100%. He has no access to food at work. He gave up Tim hortons on his own and went from drinking XL dbl dbl to one cup of black. If I didn't give it him, he didn't eat it. I would guess maybe not enough water as being the only thing. I can't believe it either. I'm about to have weigh in 11. I feel like I understand the program. I was going to be using all alternatives for him but the order hadn't arrived so he still had some IP. He doesn't eat as much lettuce as me but he still has 2-3 cups at lunch.

Very strange then... Can you ask your coach for an opinion? I am sure he/she would understand that you can't afford to both come in, but maybe they would be willing to offer a suggestion?

My coach is only learning! I educate her with stuff I learn here ;). I did order proti diet from a clinic. She was very helpful. I think I may speak to her about it. He has lost before on Atkins and Bernstein so I know he has been in ketosis before. Maybe he is just slow to get there this time. I'm trying to get him to give up restricted but he really looks forward to it.

I dislike the debate side! I realize that the nutritional information (ie net carbs (carb-fiber)) makes them unrestricted as far as carb wise, but maybe the coach is convinced for some other reason. He's pretty good about giving me good advice including ways I can indulge without IP, like a little teriyaki sauce is ok if I don't have a restricted that day, etc. He says my commitment to the plan makes him feel comfortable letting me know little tricks. I do trust him, I mean he is in it for the right reasons, he's a chiropractor and is pretty big on health. We have had very few issues other than that he's definitely got strong feelings about only using IP stuff but that's natural for all the coaches. I'm not saying anyone is wrong or right I'm just saying it makes me nervous lol I guess I will still just think they are restricted in my head :?:

Is he getting the 2nd tsp of oil in there somewhere? Seems like he is kind of low on healthy fats. Maybe change up the chicken with ground beef or steak a few nights?

Some obvious questions - is he suffering from the Big C? Maybe overdoing the salt?

It does seem awfully early for him to hit a 0 loss. Is he weighing at the same time every week?

Just brain storming...

Thanks for the suggestions.

It's only been one week as of this morning. I do get the second tsp in most times. Same as I do for me. I know it is better in its natural state but sometimes I have used a bit to cook with. We had ground beef and steak last week too, eggs, pork tenderloin and ground turkey. We have been a little light in the salt if anything. No problem with big C - that was my first question.

It doesn't make any sense at all!!!:stress:

Has anyone heard of IP not working? My husband lost 0 last week and when he did ketostix this morning he is barely registering.

He's been pretty good with supplements and drinking his water and adding his salt.

He is following things just like me, except I don't eat the bars very often and he was putting Mio in his water pretty regularly.
I can't believe mio would make a difference and if it does there is no way he will stick to the diet that will be that sensitive. He has been weak and starving all week

He may need more food (red meats)... and if he has any issues around blood sugars ie diabetic or pre-diabetic he should be on the IP Phase 1 Alternative plan. Check with the coach... and btw, for some people MIO does make a difference! Especially if he is generous with his squirts. Also, is he chewing gum? If it's not SPRY there are carbs involved and that can also make a difference. Just some ideas. Hope you guys can figure it out soon. Make sure you measure your oil for the salads ;)

Well, the only other thing I can think of is have you checked the batteries on your scale?

I wouldn't cut out the restricted yet - give it another week and see how he does. Has he lost any inches?

I don't think that's necessarily true for everyone. I was pre-diabetic and, yes, I was having issues. The doctor was getting ready to put me on medication when I started IP. She was concerned about waiting but agreed to give me 3 weeks. At the end of 3 weeks my blood sugars were nearly normal and within 3 months my blood sugars were totally normal and have continued to be great.

Of course everyone should check with their doctor before starting IP and make sure they have all the blood work done.

Congratulations on your scholarship. I have my MSW. What type of work are you hoping to do in the field?
