Friday Weekend Warm-up - Beck Diet Solution

If you feel badly about asking for special requests at restaurants, remind yourself, “People make special requests all the time and I’m entitled to do so, too. If I were on a very strict medical diet I wouldn’t even think twice about making requests. Eating differently to lose weight and be healthier is just as legitimate.”

I hesitate to bring my own food and order a side salad because it will be a small group and surely my choices will be noticed and commented upon. So either I go and get talked about or I don't go and get talked about. Or maybe no one will even notice.

What would ya'll do?

You could drink a shake or eat a bar before you leave and then order a side salad when you get there, ask for oil and vinegar for your dressing or take your own? That's what I would do. If someone asks just say you're on a restricted diet for medical reasons and leave it at that. They shouldn't ask for more details...it's invasive and not appropriate for work settings.

My boyfriend has to eat a restricted diet as well (low fodmap, gluten free) and his boss also takes his teamout to lunch frequently at places that aren't ideal (italian seems to be the favorite). He says the same thing "restricted diet for medical reasons" if anyone asks why he doesn't order much and they don't think anything of it. You'd think his boss might get the hint through and ask him for input before they choose a place to go, haha.

I know it's annoying...especially if you're around people who are constantly asking, "can you have this? What?? you can't have it? Just one cheat won't hurt" (like my family). But you can do it!! Check in when you get back and let us know how it went.

First weigh in today, and I'm down 10.1 lb! I know it isn't all fat loss, some is water & glycogen stores, but I'm still thrilled! :carrot:

I haven't see the 260s since last summer! What a great way to start week 2. I had no idea that Ideal Protein would work so well!

My scale was up slightly again this morning, probably because I feel slightly sick, but I don't especially care ... I caught myself in the mirror in profile and thought, "Is that my stomach? Wow! That's a lot smaller!" NSV!

Thanks...I am the oldest ...of 5 sisters...! Where are you in the lineup...you obviously are not an only child! It does give perspective to the world having sisters...both what you say tomthem...and what they lovingly tell you. Can't imagine not having all of them!

I'm in the middle of 5 sisters and I'm with you - I might gripe about them sometimes, but I can't imagine not having them all!

WOW...I never knew that about you!!!! I wonder how many of us 5ers there are??? We are doing a sister's trip in June...and it is a wonderful tradition. We started it on my 50th B-day. B-day girl gets a sister's ring with all 5 of our birthstones...and a trip to the destination of her choice. Now the last sister will be turning 50... in 2015...
Then I will be up again for a big b-day... in 2018 I will be 70...so I get to plan the place! I'm thinking Europe...and we will have another round of birthday trips!

(However...as my one BIL says..."you ladies manage to find plenty to celebrate in between the birthday trips...there is always an EVENT or REASON you need to commemorate".) Which is true...now we just go....

If it makes you feel better, last Friday I had a lunch meeting at work and the President of the company was there. I have only been working there for 5 months. I asked for plain turkey on a plate and brought my own salad. Everyone else had turkey salad, fruit and cookies. No one asked about it.

What a lovely tradition 65! We try to get the sisters together every year or so but we all stay in close touch via phone, email, etc.

schenectady - now we know the reason! :D

V-8

Does anyone know why we can't have V-8? Is it the high salt content?

Just made these OMG love the salt and vinegar. Definitely satisfied my craving for the Lays version.

Ingredients:
•1 bunch kale, washed (stems and stalks removed)
•1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
•1/8 teaspoon sea salt (or taste)
•1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Preheat oven to at 300°F. Lightly chop kale into smaller pieces, if desired. Toss with olive oil, sea salt, and apple cider vinegar. Spread onto 2 large baking sheets and bake for about 20 minutes.

I'll have to try kale chips with vinegar. I love them with just salt and I haven't ventured out to try different seasonings!

Hello All, some great scale & NSV's! I have been reading but not posting, been in a REAL stall for a month, but had my bloodwork done last week and had to UP my Synthroid and I am back on 50,000 Vit. D. Hope that starts my VERY SLOW journey back- up. I have to laugh at people who "think" they are in a plateau or stall, you really have NO idea. I think an actual plateau is 6 weeks without change.

Love your dress Schenectady
